...post number 216...?
20:11. personal note. When I was a little kid, I lived mostly in my imagination. Reality didn't matter to me. When I was in second grade, though, I felt as if I lost my ability to imagine. As time went on, I couldn't find much reason to live, though I feared death. I did mathematics because it was easy. I was good at it, it was black and white. It felt good to do. I felt clever, I felt special. I loved astronomy, then I loved physics, and threw myself into it almost out of jealousy of a peer. But I didn't know why I was alive, and that troubled me. Fear of death plagued me daily, whenever I couldn't distract myself. Finally, in sixth grade, I attached myself completely to the notion of legacy. I decided to become part of the eternal web of ideas we call human scientific progress. Then, I assured myself, I would never truly die. I wrote stories of historical figures, to make them feel human, to make them feel reachable. My interest went from physics to mathematics, as I discovered that once again, reality didn't matter to me. Reality was a special case, I could look at general ones, visualize and manipulate not what exists but what is, depending on the premises. But most of all, I adored the moments of understanding. Solving a problem after suffering for it, reaching that peak where everything clicked together, and the world came into focus around me. I could see implications for a realization everywhere. Everything is connected, and in those moments, I feel as if I can see all of those connections. It's like glimpsing the divine- I don't believe in such things, but absolute truth evokes such a feeling of reverence. So I decided that I would pursue mathematics and logic to its end, for the sake of truth and the sake of becoming worthy of the legacy built by those before me, to contribute and be remembered by those who will come after.
Restate my assumptions. {} Mathematics Logic is the language of all realities, including that which we consider nature. {{}} Everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers formal systems. {{};{{}}} If you graph consider the numbers every string of any formal system, patterns emerge. ------- ∴ there are patterns everywhere in nature.
