he laughed nervously, tucking his phone back into his pocket. well, there goes the idea of showing her another dog video he found on route to the venue. “i wasn’t going to show you another dog video, please.”

“No, I’m good,” Cindy says, and she pulls herself to her feet to prove it.  A hand rushes to clutch her side as a stabbing pain shoots through it.  As she doubles over, the blood from her nose dribbles onto the ground.  “I’ve had worse,” she insists, sounding none too convincing, even though it probably is the truth.  With how many fights she gets into, statistically, it’s just realistic that she’ll lose a couple.

“I’ll walk it off.”  She speaks through gritted teeth, still trying to appear tough in front of the dainty-looking redhead.  “No ambulances.”

A FINGER TRACED ALONG THE SPINE OF A BOOK AS AMANO READ THE NAME. She continued the action with the books stacked next to it until she found the one she was looking for.

Amano pulled the red textbook out from its shelf and carried it back with her. This one would help them with their big project. She placed it on the table and gently pushed it in Riko's direction. A finger lightly tapping on the book to get her attention. Amano wasn’t a fan of group work, but so far things have been going smoothly.
