Zoe misses Mickey, which is just silly when she knows what he's like. Rather than rushing off to get her heart toyed with again, she'd do much better to get to know her neighbors.
Both the Picasos seem very nice and of course being military gives them stuff to talk about. "I made friends I know I'll have forever in college, but you can never have too many, can you?"
She also does her bit to support Jasmine's club, though between Jasmine’s twins and Gunnar’s marriage the Paradyme gigs they all planned on haven’t materialized.
In addition to being worthwhile on its own, it's patronized by influential people it won't do her any harm to cultivate.
