Canadian producer Pick a Piper's contribution to the MOCD March Madness Exclusives is "Rose Spring" where graceful danceable beats impeccably ripple the surface of this glossy beauty. Special thanks to Pick a Piper for this amazing track. Posted by: MsGem Special Thanks to Abandon Building Recordings

Pick a Piper performed at Pressed Café last night, with support from Ottawa's Cabaal and Raas, to a drawn-out audience, shy at first, but unable to resist the exhilarating multi-drummer dynamism and smooth electronic beats of Pick a Piper's live performance. Their anticipated self-titled debut came out last Tuesday on Mint Records, after a three-year break from recording and touring, as drummer and songwriter Brad Weber performed with Caribou extensively.
I caught Weber after last night's show to chat about his new project, his influences (including Daniel Snaith) and his inspiration. You can listen to the interview on tomorrow's show, 2-3 pm on CKCU 93.1 FM, when I will be joined by guest host Cabaal.
If you caught last night's show, and especially if you missed it, enjoy this video of Weber drumming alongside Caribou's Dan Snaith in the Pink Room live recording sessions, and get lost in that trance-inducing multi-rhythm ekstasis once more.
Blazing the dusty Ontario tour trail after the release of their full-length debut, Pick a Piper's Brad Weber (who also drums for Caribou) is excited to share the group's sweet melodic and organic-sounding electronic music with Ottawa this Sunday April 7th at Pressed Cafe.
If they maintain even a portion of the same energy they played with back in 2008, when I first swooned at their incredible dynamism and entrancing rhythm, then this performance is one not to be missed (better play it safe and just come).
Opening for Pick a Piper is exciting new Ottawa artist Cabaal, who I will have the pleasure of welcoming on Debaser next Tuesday April 7th. Cabaal's Ben Globerman will be playing some tunes and chatting with me about the show and some more upcoming projects.
Tune in for the Open Studio Session with Cabaal, a few words from Brad Weber from the Pick a Piper show at Pressed, and lots more neat stuff.

Been listening to Bonobo's The North Borders lots, and so you shall too! Getting excited to see him perform with a live band at his sold out show at Babylon on April 17th.
Listen in for selections from some more artists who will be performing in Ottawa over the next few weeks, including Blue Hawaii, Pick a Piper, Cabaal, and Suuns.
Plus, some happy fuzzies from Kurvi Tasch, The Walls are Blonde, and Special Costello.
