There’s a saying about spirits that if they didn’t fulfill their duty or a task before death, they linger on the Earth for a very long time. I wonder if it’s the same at Gettysburg, particularly for the Confederate soldiers who made their death march called Pickett’s Charge….
But I also wonder if many Union soldiers felt they didn’t finish what they were supposed to do in death. I sometimes find myself wondering if my family member is still there… His men (among other companies) didn’t yet capture the Bliss Farm when he died.

Pickett's Charge
My friend and I were walking it for the third time one day this week. It was the first time we were walking it that day. So we walk the entire thing with the sun beating down on us just to get to the other side and find out we have to turn around. Her mom could not figure out how to get to the other side because most of the streets are one way. So...we walked it back. Plus we walked all over town that night. So I'm not feeling as bad as I had been about missing the gym.
Pickett's Charge
There were approximately 5,000 to 7,000 Union soldiers involved in the charge. The Confederates had 12,000 to 13,000 soldiers. Today during the reenactment, the National Park Service expects about 10,000 to 13,000 people to participate! Amanda Schubert
We are waiting for Pickett's Charge to begin! There are thousands of people here! It is difficult to tell from this picture, but there are hundreds of people lined up near the woodline.
