Have you seen Pidge’s vlog? “Rover was the best drone a girl could’ve asked for.” A GIRL. Pidge called herself a GIRL. Let it be known now and forever that Pidge. Is. A. Girl. Idk if it was just me (it hella felt like it) but I feel like until now the entire fandom was freaking out over Pidge’s gender when- since season 1- she HERSELF has made it quite clear that she’s a girl. I’ll probably get loads of hate for this but its just my position on it, I don’t think my opinion makes me transphobic

It doesn’t. She’s clearly a girl, she’s quite comfortable being a girl, and she was made a girl for a very specific reason. According to the showrunners, Pidge was made a girl specifically to get away from the token female trope (aka the Smurfette principle) to normalize the idea that a girl could be in an action show and treated normally. She’s just…part of the team, no kid gloves or strings attached.

And from that POV, making her transgender or non-binary really defeats the purpose. It’s saying you can’t be a girl in a show like this without being token. And that misses the point.
