Friday Pie: Pie Corps in Greenpoint, Brooklyn
This week's pie required me to venture into the depths of Brooklyn to seek out the ultimate in indulgence: the Chocolate Chili Ganache with Chocolate Sea Salt Crust Pie from Pie Corps. Unf. Just reading the name of that pie got me all hot and bothered.
If you're a fan of insanely rich, obnoxiously chocolatey things with a slight pinch of saltiness at the finish, this is the pie for you. Warning: this pie is for those with stomachs of steel or else just a deep chocolate need. I regret eating the entire slice as quickly as I did, especially five minutes before going to sleep. Had some super trippy chocolate-induced dreams involving Johnny Depp and Paul Rudd...
I really don't recommend eating this without a huge glass of milk nearby or some other form of hydration because you honestly won't be able to - I found out quickly that it's too rich to be consumed without liquid.
Short version:
Where is this pie? Pie Corps in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, in a delightful little shop with chalkboard signs designed by resident artist/baker Aaron (according to the cashier). Yay, Aaron!
Should I try? YES. If you believe in the goodness of chocolate. If you're not a chocoholic, maybe try one of their other incredibly delicious-looking and interestingly-flavored pies, which change seasonally.
Warmest regards and pies,
Lauren
