a new dawn, it’s a new day
Much had happened since Sansa and Alyn had departed from White Harbor. Queen Daenerys now reigned over the Six Kingdoms with Jon by her side, and due to the intercession of Sansa and Tyrion, the North had been declared independent at last. Sansa had met privately with the new queen to discuss the matter of their alliance, which both women were certain would be the GREATEST in all of Westerosi history.
Queen Daenerys had learned much from her failures against the Iron Fleet, and to Sansa’s surprise, thanked her for her insight. “A queen cannot rule by ignoring her people,” Daenerys had said. “I vow to you, Sansa Stark, your insight will always be valued, as I know you shall value mine.” Sansa had agreed wholeheartedly. “We’re strongest together. The North’s independence will not lessen its LOYALTY to Daenerys Targaryen,” she vowed. Together with Tyrion and Jon, they drafted a treaty to seal their alliance.
Sansa and Alyn remained at the Red Keep until after Daenerys’s coronation, then said their goodbyes and departed for Winterfell. Sansa had been declared QUEEN IN THE NORTH, and her own coronation was only days away. As such, she was in need of a Queensguard, of which she immediately asked Brienne of Tarth to be captain and Podrick Payne to be a member. Both accepted, to Sansa’s delight, as did Sandor Clegane. She also asked her sister Arya, who declined but promised she would always watch over Sansa, title or not. Everything seemed to be falling into place at long last, but there was one piece yet missing.
“Alyn,” she greeted him one evening, after their meal had been cleared up and the castle grew quiet. “There’s been so much to prepare, I haven’t seen you nearly as often as I’d like,” she said, kissing him tenderly. “There is an important matter we need to discuss before the coronation.”
