Kira is the daughter of Rian and Deet. This is why she can call animals and ride Landstriders and has a pet Fizzgig. It is also why the Podlings took care of her - because of her mother’s friendship with Hup. Also, Kira & Jen each believe they’re the last of their kind until they meet. Thus, there could be more Gelfling still alive and in hiding, potentially including Rian, Deet, Brea, Seladon, etc. 

Mother Aughra knows that attempting to overthrow the Skeksis with a Gelfling army will not work, nor are the remaining Gelfling strong or numerous enough to take them on again; all it takes is one brave Gelfling (or two, as it were), to turn the tide and restore the Crystal.

ＰＵＲＩＴＹ．To sum up Deet in one word is difficult and not at all comprehensive, but the closest it comes is PURITY. Her heart, her soul, her E S S E N C E  is gentle beauty, pure and uncorrupted. Even when she is exposed to the harsher realities of the world above the caves of Grot, she retains her pure heart. Who but a pure soul could speak with the ＳＡＮＣＴＵＡＲＹ ＴＲＥＥ and receive its powers? Deet is deeply connected to Thra, as pure as the land itself. She knows how much The Darkening affects the land and its creatures; she can FEEL it in her very bones, and thus arises her motivation to stop it - no matter the cost.

“This view is GORGEOUS, isn’t it? I can’t believe I’m really here, it’s been a lifelong dream of mine.” Okay, she was laying it on pretty THICK, but that was part of her latest identity. Maddie Jonson didn’t give a crap about the view, she’d seen it all before, but to Alayna Masterson, it was the most EXCITING thing in the world.

Can you tell me about Maddie? I have no idea who she is! What is she like? What drew you to her?

Of course! She’s from the show Imposters, which was on Bravo & canceled (in my opinion) way before its time. Anyway, essentially, Maddie is a con artist. She works for a man known only as “The Doctor,” and her main gig is marrying rich marks under an assumed identity, taking all their money, and leaving. 

I was drawn to her by how complex her character is; she’s pretended to be so many different people and lived so many different lives that it’s caused her to lose herself a bit. I think it would be really interesting to explore that, and where the line is between who she is and who she pretends to be.

             Aegon was the reserved academic, he always had been.  Calm, grounded, cautious.  Her younger brother had always asked questions of the adults in their life, never felt any need to soar the skies when he might bury his nose in a book, or debate with a learned man.

             Rhaenys found joy and freedom her heart’s desire, delighting in songs and poetry, in stories and art.  In the sky, Rhaenys was home, and upon the ground she soared like a true Valyrian dragonrider should, full of life and spirit, as wild and untameable as her dragon.

             And then, of course, there was Visenya.  She gave a half-smile as she watched her sister at the festivities, though it fell quickly.  Visenya, who never felt more at home than when she had a battle to fight.  Her weapon a sword or a quill, honed blade or sharp tongue, she would fight with either.  Her armor might be leather and steel, or a silken dress; she didn’t care much which.

             They were the blood of the dragon, and they were all as different as the sun and the moon and the stars.  And yet despite that, she thought…they were close.  Family.

             Visenya’s smile returned to her as Rhaenys approached, and the elder sister chuckled as the youngest of the three cradled her hands.  Shaking her head, she tutted softly, almost under her breath, though she did not draw away from his younger sister. “Everything is more fun with me, hm?  You must be the only one who thinks so,” she murmured, smile turning to a grin.

          “Besides, how ever might I keep pace with you, dear sister?  Everyone knows you have such energy, and I am little more than a wet blanket, here to douse the fun.”

It was true that Rhaenys was known for her love of the finer things, and her ability to dance the night away. Why should life be wasted by sitting around and being serious all of the time when music existed? When the occasion called for serious behavior, she had no trouble with it, but most occasions had room for celebration. Rhaenys was determined to ENJOY her life, and the quest they were about to embark upon would be serious enough for a long while. They needed to have a bit of fun while they had time left. 

“You are no wet blanket, my love, I assure you. I shall lend you some of my energy and we shall rejoice together. Come now, everyone is waiting and I wish to dance with my sister.” Grinning ear to ear, Rhaenys pulled Visenya into an embrace. “Please don’t make me beg you, it’s unbecoming,” she joked, resting her forehead against Visenya’s. “I’ll wear you down eventually, you know I will. You might as well spare me the trouble and say yes.”

An endless refrain of commands played on a loop in her head. Smile, wave, be gracious, be in love, praise the Capitol, hold Peeta’s hand, MAKE THEM BELIEVE IT. By the time they reached District 5, she had it down to a science. After the debacle in District 11, she’d VOWED to herself that no more mistakes could be afforded. It filled her with dread knowing her mistake in 11 might have already cost her everything, but she had to keep trying. 

Upon their arrival in District 5, they were greeted as per usual by the mayor. Katniss had grown accustomed to the procedure by now; she shook hands, she gave a perfunctory smile, she was polite even though everything inside of her wanted to SCREAM. How could anyone look upon the children of their district and not see how UNJUST this all was? After all she’d endured, all she’d learned, she couldn’t turn a blind eye, but her anger would not dissipate unless President Snow was dead, and the Games along with him. That seemed impossible from where she stood. No, the best she could hope for now was to live her life in peace and keep her family safe. That was priority #1, and she’d do anything necessary to achieve it. 

The mayor introduced his son, “Jacen Corvus,” and Katniss shook his hand, as well. She thought of the mayor of her own district and his daughter, her friend Madge; she was the reason for Katniss’s mockingjay pin, the reason it was now the symbol the REBELLION associated with her, part of the reason Snow was so angry with her. Still, if it hadn’t been the mockingjay, it would have been something else. It was Katniss’s behavior that had led them to this point. So she would reign it in, she would CHOKE it down and suppress her every impulse in order to maintain the very fragile ‘peace’ that Snow insisted was real. “Thank you for having us, Mayor Corvus, Jacen,” she said, acknowledging each of them with a nod. “It’s been so good to see all of the districts in person, I never thought I’d see anything but Twelve.”
