Oh actually I know the answer to the reason it's always so dark in hollownest, TC answers this on their blog but apparently the events of hollow knight all take place within one reeeealy long night (a night that's apparently 95 hours long according to my save file)

Oh I think they say LGBT+ because atlus has had gay charaters in the past but they were mishandled in much the same way, but I do get your argument it's pretty frustrating but I think they were just trying to cut down on the title length for the article and also mention how they've done the same thing to other LGBT people

this is the only mention of gay characters in the article itself tho, and “trans characters” is even shorter than LGBTQ Characters

You mentioned in your theorizing about the god status of PK and the radiance that ghost actually returns to their previous form for a brief second and I had never noticed that up until now, though I'm still having trouble finding the exact part you're referring to. I thought until now that ghost just becomes the shade Lord instead of calling upon it (which I like because of character implications like them finally being able to take down the radiance & save their siblings without the sacrifice)

I think I remembered it slightly wrong - it’s not quite their previous form, but it bears more of a resemblance to Sharp Shadow than their big ol Shade Lord form.

(note: six eyes instead of eight, like shade lord)

I do think they actually did become the shade lord, but since void is malleable and dreams are weird, they probably still remember their previous forms, or at least a version of them (since when they break their mask in dream no more they generally retain their shape). More power seems to make their form…strange.

This also raises the interesting concept that bugs born into or who lived permanently under ground after the stasis might have no idea what the sun is, or about the associated sleep or routines that pre stasis or non hollownest bugs had. that being said I really enjoy the thought of ghost or HK trying desperately to explain why they're tired only for hornet to stubbornly refusing to acknowledge or believe the concept of night/day sleep cycles, or time itself

that is honestly amazingly fucked up to consider, but I definitely wouldn’t be surprised to find out that was the case. Also Hornet being like WHAT DO YOU MEAN BEING TIRED, THAT SOUNDS FAKE and then leaving Hallownest and getting subjected to time passing and day cycles like normal bugs is both sad and also hilarious
