Hey uh fun fact for my fellow piercing havers - a septum piercing is not supposed to hurt (at least more than a sharp sneeze) or go through cartilage. So uh... If your piercer did that they dunno wtf they're doing.

There is a small area at the inside of your nostrils up where the tip of your nose is kinda where there is very thin skin, this is the location of the proper piercing site. Not everyone has this anatomy, and a good piercer will be able to tell and know if you do have the anatomy for it. Depending on the shape of your nose (and the piercers height and personal choice sometimes) the piercer may have you lay down with your head over the edge of the table to better see the area they're piercing.

So yea just a lil info from someone with many piercings and who still plans on getting more!

P.s. I also recommend getting a pack of extra jewelry in case the balls of the piercing falls out, it happened many times and I'd wake up with my nose ring out :\

I am so deeply in love with piercings but if I catch one of you about to get one done with a piercing gun over a needle I will actually slap it out of the piercer's hands. "Oh but it's cheaper and quicker and hurts less" nO does it hurt less to destroy your ear, deal with a much heightened risk of infection, etc.?? NO it's not good. I am so so so against guns.

Also please go to a reputable piercer? It shouldn't have to be said but be 110% sure that the parlor is hygienic and that your piercer knows what they're doing! (*Cough* don't get your nose pierced in a friend's basement *cough*) I personally reccommend shops that are tattoo/piercing parlors :)

I have lips????

So I was going to go to get my smiley pierced right? Well no. Not right. Turns out if you have a "prominent upper lip" you're less likely to be able to have your smiley pierced because the skin inside that part of your lip is smaller than those with a thinner lip. If you do it anyway then the jewelry can hang too much a rIP THROUGH THE SKIN. Boi. That's the story of how I got my belly button pierced in the end.

idk what the fuck is going on with my ear piercing but it needs to stop...just in case anyone can help me at all I’ll describe it. So my right ear is my problem ear, almost everyone has one, it took the longest to get to 5/8ths and it’s never had a second ear piercing heal as quickly and effortlessly as my left ear. It’s a lil tender to touch, and swollen in size. The backing was originally way too fucking tight so I’ve managed to take it out a bit to give it space and I’ve been cleaning it twice a day with hydrogen peroxide. It’s still swollen, and tender but I can move it a bit. I refuse to take this out because the first time it happened I took it out and I just really want a cute fuckin ear piercing but idk what to do??? Someone help????

Some Piercing Info:

So I’ve gotten a few asks about what piercings I have, how much they hurt, aftercare, and stuff like that so I decided to make a big post about all the piercings that I have. Since this will probably be long I’ll put the rest under a rm. 

First things first, I have a total of 13 piercings: 1 industrial, 1 conch, 3 lobes, 2 nose, 1 helix, 1 daith, 2 nipple, 1 tragus, and 1 belly button. I’m not going to go into any detail about the lobes as they are the easiest to heal, take care of, and the lowest on pain.  I’ll be using a 1-10 scale to rate things, 1 being minimal, 10 being extreme. 

I HIGHLY recommend NOT getting a hoop when you get a new piercing!

1. Nose: a pain level of about 5, the worst part is having a metal tube up your nose while they pierce. The reason is so the needle won’t go anywhere it shouldn’t. Healing time can depend on a bunch of things, my first nose piercing healed quickly and without issue. It was done in the spring. The second one took longer to heal, that one was done in the winter. Season can play a big role, runny noses and sneezing can make healing take a little longer. On average they took around 4 weeks to completely heal. Cleaning is pretty easy, I recommend using salt water, pouring it into a bowl and basically just placing your nose into it, while softly blowing bubbles. While it looks silly it will really get the job done!

2. Conch: Pain level around 7, the conch is in a very thick area of cartilage on your ear. I had it done with a barbell and the long term healing is probably the best out of all my piercings. The initial healing was not fun though, for about a week every morning I would wake up with blood around the jewelry. In total the piercing took about 6 weeks to full heal, I waited another 3 before getting a hoop in it. It is now one of my most comfortable piercings. Cleaning is similar to the nose, pour some slat water into a bowl and place your ear in the water, then hang out for a while. Another way to do it is to soak some gauze in the salt water and place it on the piercing, let it soak for a few minutes. Doing this once a day is enough, too often will dry out your piercing too much. 

3. Industrial: By far the most painful piercing I have ever gotten, probably about a 9. Although some friends that have the same piercing say it was the least painful for them, so it all depends. The healing has been long and not fun. I’ve had the piercing for about 4 months now and it is still healing. I clean it the same way I cleaned my conch, soaking in salt water. 

4. Helix: This piercing didn’t hurt much at all, probably a 4. Although it took a long time to heal, around 6 months. This is one of the only piercings I have ever had done with a hoop and is why I do not recommend doing so. I had this done over 3 years ago and occasionally it will still hurt a little. Over all the pain is very minimal. I cleaned it the same way as the other  

5. Daith: Pain level around 8. This the other piercing I had done with a hoop, although it is still very new so I can’t say much about the healing time. To clean I use a Q-tip soaked in salt water to gently clean and get rid of any gunk that has built up around it. The placement makes it hard to see if there is any buildup. Just like the conch for about the first week I would wake up with dried blood around the jewelry. A good thing to note about this spot is that it can interfere with in ear headphones, so that is something to keep in mind. 

6. Tragus: Again, a pain level of about 7. This piercing absolutely interferes with in ear headphones! I use a smaller size on my right ear now so they will fit. Cleaning this one can be hard using the bowl trick so I recommend using the same technique as the daith, using a Q-tip soaked in salt water to carefully get the grime out. Also using a bit of soaked gauze works too. The healing time was quick, around 4 weeks. Although the first 3 weeks weren’t fun, the piercing was very gunky all the time, and painful to touch. I really do not recommend getting a hoop in here right off the bat as it is in an area that is knocked around a lot, especially if you have long hair, brush you hair, or style your hair in any way. 

7. Nipple: An important thing to note is that I had mine done at separate times, so the initial pain level for me was low, around a 5 or 6. I have heard that when people get both done at the same time the second one hurts much more. Cleaning these guys is actually really fun! All you need is some salt water and a shot glass. Fill the glass with water, leave about half a centimeter from the brim (depending on how deep your shot glass is adjust for your needs), then lean forwards placing the nipple into the glass, once you press the glass against your chest you can lean back and relax for a while. Occasionally swirl the shot glass around to encourage some motion and to loosen the gunk. The healing period was about 5 weeks until they didn’t hurt at all. Although if they catch on something it still does hurt. 

8 Belly Button: For me, the pain was around a 7, my friend who also has hers done says about a 4. I’m not sure why this one hurt as much as it did, the piercer did have to push the need two times for me though. Cleaning is the same as the nipples, just fill a shot glass with salt water, place, and swirl. The healing was very fast, around 3 weeks until it stopped hurting when i caught it. It is important to really watch it as it heals, the belly button can become aggressively infected very quickly, so watch for that. 

And that’s it! This is all the info on my personal experiences with piercings I have. In summary I recommend not getting pierced with a hoop, not using the piercing spray some shops sell (any piercings I used it on made the healing longer), DON”T PICK AT THEM, and make sure you do your research.  I hope this was helpful.
