1 SHORT STORY ABOUT THE DROPKICK MURPHYS AND AMH GLORY!
Last Wednesday was definitely a day that I would have never imagined happening at AMH. Since starting my internship here for almost a year now, I have seen many great shows at the Ardmore Music Hall. Recently we have hosted a special lunchtime series with 93.3 WMMR FM, titled “Pierre Presents.” These shows have included The Struts and Kaleo, but on January 4th the latest Pierre Presents starred the “Celtic punk” band The Dropkick Murphys. They played probably one of the coolest acoustic sets here and even to have the honor to witness it was great.
The Dropkick Murphys played a ton of different material from their new album that came out last week, called 11 Short Stories of Pain and Glory, hence the title of the blog post! One of my favorite parts about seeing them that day was the Dropkick Murphy's energy. No matter if they are playing to a sold out show at the Electric Factory or a big show at the Susquehanna Bank Center, these guys embody the punk attitude they started with and they had a ton of energy and charisma. There were times during their set where Ken Casey would grab his microphone and put it right towards James Lynch while he played harmonica. That was one of the coolest moments of the afternoon.
You could also see that the Dropkick Murphy's keep the crowd engaged. They kept the energy going by singing crowd favorites such as “Rose Tattoo” as well as doing a free signing after the concert. I really love bands that not only respond back to the crowd, but also give back to the crowd. That is a big deal for me about punk music, it's all about unity and the bond that we all share. To be able to share that moment with friends of mine will definitely be a highlight during my time at AMH!
