When I was in middle school I made the useless discovery that "independence-day" could be arrived at in Pig Latin by translating the made-up word Dindependence.
In my US history class we were writing essays on the topic of July 4 and the obvious title for the essay would have just been "Independence Day" so I wrote it at the top of my paper, my stupid little Pig Latin discovery buzzing in my brain all the while.
Later during class the teacher calls me up to the desk. Imagine Wilford Brimley after waiting an hour for a coffee. That was my teacher's appearance and affect at all times. He calls me up, holds my paper upright pointing to the title, and delivers the most perfect, incredulous, deadpan "... Dindependence?"
