Red Sox pitcher, Garrett Crochet, loves his nickname, the Pig!! I didn't know that. I thought this sign was very rude so I looked it up. Apparently, an announcer, Lou Merloni, gave him this nickname because he thought that his pitches were filthy. Filthy is a compliment in baseball, and it means that the pitches are extremely difficult to hit. Crochet has embraced this nickname, and he thinks it's hilarious and the fans love it. Live and learn. I love baseball. There are so many weird little things in this game between the players and the fans and everyone involved that make it a charming and fun time for all!! Crochet is earning this nickname today because he's pitching very well, as always!! That being said...
