This is a message delivered by pigeon from the commander of the "Lost Battalion" to the headquarters of the 308th Infantry requesting a halt of the artillery barrage that was causing numerous friendly fire casualties.

finch i'd love to know more about the manga dinosaur sanctuary

ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY YOU HAVE TO READ IT

dinosaur sanctuary is a manga with the fictional scenario of an island off the coast of japan being discovered with living dinosaurs in 1946. with this discovery, scientists were able to genetically replicate several other species and dino zoos have swept across the world. the main character is suma suzume, most recent hire at enoshima's dinoland - a dinosaur park that has gone through significant troubles after a famous incident, and is just barely staying afloat.

the characters themselves aren't truly groundbreaking (entertaining enough for the manga, not bad by any means) but the main draw is the WORLDBUILDING. this is written by someone who truly loves dinosaurs and animal care (and with a real paleontologist consultant! inbetween chapters they'll have a section explaining certain things or fun paleo facts) and oh my GOD they do it so well. itaru konishita i would do anything for you. it takes a delightfully realistic look at the popular dinosaur zoo trope and paints the dinosaurs perfectly; not as monsters or majestic beasts, but just animals that can get scared and have feelings and their own unique quirks.

i don't want to share too much for spoiling but the art is so wonderful and very accurate. the feathers make me so happy. i own the first volume and read the rest here

fair warning for realistic gore and animal death (specifics under cut)

volume 2 has an allosaurus shot and killed for being aggressive and escaping. volume 5 shows a poached styracosaurus with the head cut off (think elephant poaching), and later a wounded styracosaurus that eventually is found drowned.

The adorableful moraju (that u can find in parks here) is so cool and epic, these birds put their eggs in other bird's nests, breaking the original eggs, they also emigrate, when i was little i thought they were crows but theyre too tiny for that JSJS

realization: all those times i imagined myself narrating a youtube video essay about something i was passionate about, i had the capability to actually open up tumblr and write them out as a written essay instead and i still have the opportunity to do so instead of imagining myself narrating the thoughts that i want others to hear to no one but myself :3
