Okay but like

What if Gohan and Videl were on their typical crime-fighting run, and Gohan started chasing after a guy who stole someone’s purse or something.

So Gohan (as Saiyaman) runs up to this guy and grabs his shoulder, while yelling his typical lines (”STOP, in the name of justice!”).

Then the guy turns around...and it’s Pigero, from the orphanage!

So Gohan, kind of shocked and excited at the same time, takes off his helmet and goes, “It’s me, Gohan!” Except Pigero doesn’t recognize him anymore because it’s been years since they met. Gohan tries to explain to Pigero that he needed the purse back, but Pigero tells him he needs the money. Gohan wants to help, but Pigero tells him that if he really wanted to help, he’d build an orphanage, or some new housing, or help the poor, instead of running around arresting them.

Gohan just sort of stands there while Pigero shakes free and runs away with the purse. After he’s gone, Videl comes over and chastises Gohan for not retrieving the purse, but Gohan doesn’t really know what to say.

Anyhoo, I always thought it would be cool for Gohan to meet the kids at the orphanage again, but that it was likely they all wouldn’t be in good places. I mean, Pigero was alone and just sort of...ran away. He didn’t have anywhere to go and he clearly had a distaste for cops, since they never did anything to help the orphans. I mean, the cops fully used their batons on the poor kids and dragged them into the van. So imagine he runs into Saiyaman...I doubt he’d see him as having good intentions.

Gohan, on the other hand, loves to go around and stop bad guys because that’s what he’d been doing his whole life, but I wonder if he was ever hit with the realization that the problem can go deeper than just “stealing = evil criminal”. I wonder how he’d approach an issue like that.
