Thoughts on names: Turtle: one of the first ones we thought of, her little gray area makes it feel like it fits, she keeps poking her head out of her hidey house kind of like a turtle out of its shell. But I've never had a pig with a hard T sound in its name, and it's 2 syllables. Trout: specific but still one syllable. Cute. funny bc obviously she is not a fish or aquatic in any way (GPs hate baths). Same T sound as above. Otter: has been leading in the polls. Is cute. Fox: works with her coloring, and funny because foxes are predators and guinea pigs are prey. One syllable. Simple animal. Fish: one syllable, silly, simple animal.

175 people voted in my poll for naming my new guinea pig, but I am no closer to making a decision. in fact, I've added more possible names to the list. Pictures of the new pig below the cut!

I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD ASK!!!

Sunday afternoon we did the reintroduction with Waffle and Penelope - they had all met at Pignic but I was hardly home during the week and you have to be able to keep an eye on them for a little while. The introduction started a bit rocky - guinea pigs have a hierarchy and there was a lot of dominance behavior from Waffle, which is mostly fine. But some of it got to be too much and we had to take some breaks. Waffle eventually got put in time out after she started being aggressive to Penelope.

But eventually they figured it out and after deep cleaning the big cage (gross), they are all living together. There's a bit of bickering, but that's to be expected as they work things out.

Even though she's a bit on edge from dealing with Waffle, living with the other pigs has been good and shown her how to exist. You see this bowl? we eat from it. and it tastes good. and yes, take the veggies from her hand, otherwise we will eat them first.

Charlotte’s Ovarian Cyst Fund

Charlotte came to me back in September, less than a week after we lost our lovely little piggy Moose. Her previous owners lived in my building and were...

I really hate asking for money and I really despise Facebook fundraisers, but here I am, asking for the best Hannukkah present you could possibly give me.

Charlotte came to me back in September, less than a week after we lost our lovely little piggy Moose. Her previous owners lived in my building and were ready to move on from her. They told me that at one point they had 4 pigs, and were down to 1 after just three years. She had never had her nails clipped, or had a bath. She was eating bad quality food, and was very grimey. I instantly fell in love with her and took her home as soon as I could. Since then, multiple medical issues have come up. First it was bumblefoot (infected and inflamed feet). Then it was digestive issues. Then I noticed some signs of what I thought might be an ovarian cyst, which was just confirmed by our vet. She has been in pain for a long time, probably longer than I've had her. Ovarian cysts are not uncommon in guinea pigs, but they are also not preventable. She is currently taking some pain medication to tide her over until her procedure, which is scheduled for next week. Unfortunately, I do not currently have the money to pay for her procedure up front. I hate asking for money, and I really hate FB fundraisers. But here I am, asking for the best Hannukkah present you could possibly give me. If you are willing / able, please donate
