These are not cheapies made overseas but they are made from solid wood, made to order, here in Melbourne with amazing reviews. Are you a fan of Piklers? Piklers have grown in popularity since they were introduced to the West by Magda Gerber, the founder of RIE philosophy (I have been following @janetlansbury who teaches RIE for over ten years now). They were originally designed by Emmi Pikler in Europe based on a parenting philosophy which teaches free movement for children - the idea that children shouldn’t be put in situations or on equipment that they naturally aren’t trying out or ready for, or in situations which constrain their movement, as free unencumbered movement is how they develop and grow. The Pikler approach is based on a kind and respectful relationship between an adult and infant, through tender care moments, a naturally paced motor development, free movement and uninterrupted play. There are so many gems from her Piklers parenting philosophy, some of which I’ve shared below from thelearningspace.co.nz: “Allow babies uninterrupted time for play. We don’t need to ‘entertain’ our babies because given a nurturing environment and freedom to explore, babies are quite able of entertaining themselves. Not only that, our ‘help and support’ may actually interfere with what they are doing and thinking. As they are playing uninterrupted by our interaction, they are experiencing independence and mastery of their world. It is here that the early beginnings of self esteem and confidence building is taking place.” . . . #pikler #piklertriangle #piklerinspired #emmipikler #freemovement #movement #freeplay #independentchildren #rieparenting #magdagerber #montessori #montessoritoddler #montessoriathome https://www.instagram.com/p/CPpFYlRHPeK/?utm_medium=tumblr
