Officially, it’s day one of the #pilatessummit2020 and my first class was The Original Mat Work (from Joe’s Return to Life) with Miguel Silva. Just gettin some love from the first teacher I ever certified in 1995 who is now a Master Gyrotonic trainer BTW. . . I’ve only certified maybe 40 teachers since 1994. Most of them went on to have successful careers and most importantly amazing lives. . . I never set out to educate teachers but it sort of just happened. I saw a need in the marketplace for teachers who wanted to teach with soul. . . Teachers develop slowly over time with a comprehension of the work that comes from the experience of learning the work and actually doing the work...all of it... well. . . That’s what we ask of clients, why wouldn’t we ask the same of teachers? . My program is designed to be completed in 6 mos but no teacher ever finishes in less than 2 years. Not because I hold them back, because they decide. ... . Nowadays, I’m lucky if I take two teachers a year sending most applicants to other schools. .
