I HAVE THOUGHTS ON PILOT PETER
I want to be clear as I say this: Peter is still my favorite person on the bachelorette this season. (Tyler is right up there with him, but Peter is the love of my life and I am tired of seeing him slandered in Twitter.) From what I’ve heard, if the rumors are true, Peter was in a shitty long-distance relationship in which he was the one putting in all the effort and he felt invested but his girlfriend wasn’t willing to commit. People are ragging on him for breaking up with her on FaceTime but how the hell else do you break up with someone when you’re in a long-distance relationship? Not to mention the fact that he broke it off when he got scouted for the show (he did NOT apply) because he realized he could have a chance to have a relationship with someone who was looking for the same level of commitment he was. That makes a LOT of sense. He wanted to move on, and it wasn’t like he broke up with her a day before (cough cough Scott) or told her he would come back for her (cough cough Jed), he broke up with her as soon as he realized he wanted to chase something else. Hannah and Colton only broke up like two months before she started the show, just as it is with every Bachelor and Bachelorette. And those people move on and look for love quickly because a lot of people do that. Peter didn’t do anything wrong here. Maybe he could have done it in person, but we don’t know SHIT about the specifics of the breakup. Clearly things weren’t going so well, and he felt hurt by her unwillingness to be an equal partner in the relationship and that is an ENTIRELY VALID reason to break things off and look for a relationship that’s more mutual. Hannah said she deserves to be loved fiercely, and guess what, so does Peter. We all do. No one should be in a one-sided relationship.
And on to my main concern: who the FUCK said this was true??? Like, Peter’s ex saw all the attention Jed’s ex was getting from her story and probably wanted some of the action. Now, I don’t think she made the whole thing up, some of this lines up with what Peter has seemed to feel about his last relationship and opening up, but I sure as hell believe that she exaggerated it and blew it way out of proportion. And she’s also probably completely ignoring her role in why the relationship crashed and burned. I just don’t buy that it’s so coincidental that she’s coming out with such a similar story right after Jed’s story blew up bachelor nation. And I especially don’t buy it about Peter, who seems really serious about this and seems to have the deepest feelings for Hannah.
I don’t give a shit what people did before they went on the show, as long as it didn’t continue to drag through the show. Scott led a girl on. Jed broke a girl’s heart to selfishly further his music career (which will never pick up because he is so stunningly mediocre) and lied to both her AND Hannah. Peter broke up with a girl with whom he was in a relationship that was already on the rocks once he found out he’d be on the show, respectfully and reasonably. I’m done with this stupid ass fake scandals. Stop trying to ruin Pilot Peter for me. I love him.
