As some of ya’ll know I got into designing fantasy pins for some friends who sell them and LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL THEY ARE!!! These are all in the sample phases so theyre not done yet! (Well Trilla’s actually in mass production now but that picture is her sample! We ditched the screenprint on her cloak! Other than that shes perfect😭)
Unrelated note but yes i’m still on a v long hiatus because of a lot of health problems going on, which is why I havent posted in awhile🥺💕 Thank you all for sticking around with me💕
Okay, I'm sending this up for a price quote tomorrow, so I'm trying to figure out how many to order on a first run.
I'm looking at hard enamel, 1.25 inches, approximately $12 (will be certain after I get the quote) plus shipping.
What do y'all think, would you be interested in purchasing this pin?
Preorders for this enamel pin are open for one week!
PiebaldPins
Preorders for these pins are up now in my shop! They’ll run from 5/6-5/13 so you’ve got a week to grab a spot! I’ll have extras when they’re done though!
The pins pictured are samples, there will be a few minor changes to colors (hair and shirt shading) between these and the finished pins.
Available now!
New merch drop this Saturday! 1/28 at 3:30 PM PST
The Mirio spinners are an open preorder! So if you want to buy both please purchase them separately if you want the standee and anything else you grab to ship right away! Thank you!!
I'm looking to get into making enamel pins, do you have any tips for someone just starting out that aren't mentioned in the Pinlord page?
Hmmm there's a lot I could say Anon! Maybe one day if I have time I'll make my own enamel pin guide. But for now here are five things not mentioned in the Pinlord article:
Buy other makers' pins. You can look at pictures sure, but holding the pin in your hand and looking at it in-person lets you see how techniques, sizes, platings, and flaws actually look. I have learned the most about pins simply from collecting and looking at them.
Always include a backstamp. I learned this lesson early on and my biggest regret is not putting backstamps on my early pins. Once people toss your backing card they have no way to remember who made the wonderful pin they just bought. It's a great way to get customers if your pin is sold secondhand. And it differentiates your pins from bootlegs.
Do your research on pin techniques. Pinlord says you can't do shading with enamel pins, but you can look into UV printing or screen-printing to mimic it. I have used lots of different techniques in my pins, you can check my catalog to see them.
Pin grading. It's expected these days that you grade your pins, that is sort them into standard grade or B/C grade (flawed, greatly flawed). Or otherwise you should let your customers know you sell mixed grade pins.
Buy a Pantone book. The monitor colors do not match the actual enamel colors. The manufacturer can pick colors for you but they may not be exactly what you want. A Pantone book and a thermal label printer are the two best investments for pin makers.
Hope this helps! If you want an example pin proof I have one on my Gumroad. Good luck Anon :))
