Inside the Life
Statements of United States Citizens of Japanese Ancestry is a classic example of how a form title can steal the beauty of what information that form contains! This form gives us a snapshot of the life of young Japanese-American men before and during World War II, and how they felt about their treatment as United States citizens being interned. We bring this to you in celebration of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month.
Check this jazzy young man, he plays sax and reads Down Beat magazine (Sau Ho Miyamoto).
Either search the catalog by name, or browse to the Pinal County Board #1 folder for young men interned at the Gila River Camp in Rivers, Arizona, and the Yuma County Board #1 folder for young men interned at the Colorado River Camp in Poston, Arizona.
Series: Statements of United States Citizens of Japanese Ancestry, 1944-1946, Record Group 147: Records of the Selective Service System, 1926-1975.
