Devereaux has released a new video for "Ponytails," the first track off new album Pineapple Flex. The video debuted over at Impose as part of their "Week In Pop" column.
The video contains a bit of the same imagery from the album's trailer, which was set to this very same song. The deadly woman in red reappears, a scarlet enigma pursuing a lounging W. Heyward Sims. She herself is pursued by a man with a gun, who is himself pursued by a man with a gun. More importantly, we still have mysterious pineapples. Pineapples that used to be people, probablIy.
It's a fun piece of intrigue, with one poor, in-over-his-head desk clerk stuck in the middle (playing the role Sims occupied in the trailer, it would seem). Directed by Taylor Glazier, there are a number of picturesque shots throughout - especially those involving elevators, pools, and pineapples - and the action scene in the latter half is pulled off pretty well. The brief black-and-white bit, synced to the beat, is an especially nice touch.
That poor desk clerk, though. He was just trying to pay his way through college. At the least the gun-toting agents had some idea what they were getting into, even if their fruity fate was an unforeseen wrinkle.
Pineapple Flex is out now on Post-Echo, where you can stream and purchase the album on CD, digitally, or in their Future-Proof format (the latter being a customized 10").
