Felix: I spread some magazines around town. wanted to make sure they were on display for holiday fest. Felix: have you been down to the grounds yet? i need a hot chocolate asap. it's freezing!
winter is upon us, pinehaveners! locals know what that means, Pinehaven's Annual Season of Lights! for about two weeks each december, pinehaven has a holiday festival of sorts. the air is cold and windy; snow falls at least once a week, piling up inch after inch; everyone seems to be in a better mood with gift-giving right around the corner; and children are on their best behavior so that they don't end up on the naughty list! …we wish we could say the same for some adults, wink wink.
the town square is where the main events happen! should you feel like getting into the holiday spirit, here's what you can expect during the festivities ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
╰┈➤ an ice skating rink; children love this! adults do too. it's free to skate, but remember to bundle up in case you fall!
╰┈➤ designated sledding hills; though you could do this on any hill in pinehaven, these hills have people watching over them in case of any mishaps. sleds are provided by the recreation center, and there are even some tubes for tubing if that's more your style
╰┈➤ nutcracker ballet performances; pinehaven learning center's very own ballet teacher, serena carlisle, has the little ones perform a nutcracker ballet during each saturday of the event! if you miss the first, you can always catch the second. these performances will take place on the 20th and 27th of december, so be sure to snatch a ticket - they sell out fast! tickets are $5 and go toward the betterment of the learning center. rumor has it that serena runs her ballet classes like the military, so you're sure to witness a beautiful show if you attend!
╰┈➤ a christmas market set up in town; this will include booths and vendors from the various pinehaven shops, fresh food made on the spot, and a fudge-making stand where you can add your own toppings and flavors to your very own batch of fudge
╰┈➤ a christmas tree lighting ceremony; this will take place on friday, december 19th. everyone gathers in the town square to help decorate and light the pinehaven christmas tree! it's a local favorite, plus there will be a free feast thrown at loulou's diner afterward
╰┈➤ santa in the square; nightly from 5-8 p.m., kids can go to the town square to see and talk to santa! children can pose for an optional photo op, and make sure they bring their letters to santa - they can drop them in a big, red letterbox and they might just get their wishes fulfilled!
╰┈➤ snowman competition; all in good fun, there will be a snowman competition each day at noon on the whitman dairy farm. since kids are currently out of school to enjoy their winter break, this is a great way to let them expend some energy by running around in the snow and building snowmen! the maker of the winning snowman each day gets their pick of 3 prizes: $100, a $50 gift certificate to sage & stone, or a whitman-branded stuffed animal modeled after betsy the cow!
╰┈➤ dying december concert; in town for an indeterminate amount of time, pinehaven's very own hometown rockstar beau spencer and his band, dying december, will be putting on a one-night-only concert at mitsy's dance hall. free for locals who present their i.d. with a local pinehaven address, and only $20 for out-of-towners, this is one concert you're not going to wanna miss. they'll be playing a mix of holiday song covers and their own rockin' hits, so make sure you're there on december 21st!
╰┈➤ last but certainly not least: a send off to 2025; gather in the town square on december 28th to witness a fireworks spectacle. the mayor will give a speech beforehand, and everyone will be given sparklers to participate in the show with! say goodbye to this year and hello to 2026 with some champagne (sparkling grape juice for the little ones), cake pops from the honey pot, and many more delicious drinks and treats!

every year around this time, pinehaven gears up for AutumnFest. the leaves are turning from green to golden, red, and brown; the smell of pumpkin spice and cinnamon are in the air; mawmaw grace has fresh, fall goodies for sale at the honey pot; and the town comes together to enjoy two full weeks of nonstop fun, food, and friendship.

╰┈➤ a hay ride: let papa ray forbes drive you around four blocks while you sip hot cider and sit on a haybale. a staple and a favorite of kids and adults alike!
╰┈➤ apple bobbing: everyone knows that it's not a real pinehaven event in the autumn if there's not a station where you can bob for apples until your heart's content! if you manage to bite into one, you get to keep it and cover it in caramel, chocolate, or red candy coating; then you can add toppings like marshmallows, chocolate chips, or chopped peanuts. yum!
╰┈➤ pie eating contest: this event happens nightly, so everyone will get a chance to win the $100 prize and bragging rights
╰┈➤ photo booth: take a cozy picture with your family, your friends, or a significant other
╰┈➤ ferris wheel & teacups: these fun carnival rides are present at every AutumnFest. they're tested and mayor-approved, so don't worry about them falling apart while you're on them!
╰┈➤ bake sale: this is a favorite of the locals. everyone gets to sample and buy delicious, homemade treats. none of that store-bought nonsense! spend a couple of dollars on things like gooey brownies, whipped pumpkin parfait, and peppermint bark! proceeds go to improving the learning center
╰┈➤ arts & crafts table: the moms of the learning center's pta gather around to help everyone create homemade decorations for the upcoming holiday season. from wreaths, to ornaments, to table settings, they've got you covered!

during the first week of september, every resident of pinehaven is prepared for the town's annual event: the apple festival. the days are slowly getting shorter, the nighters are getting cooler, and the apples in the whitman family's apple orchard are ripe for the picking. tourists from all over the northwest blow into town ( along with the leaves ) for this event, so trust us when we say that it's not one to be ignored .ᐟ.ᐟ here's what you can enjoy beyond the apples, though ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
╰┈➤ booths & vendors lined up along main street, selling all sorts of apple dishes, preserves, and other goods ( + plenty of food and drinks )

it's october! everyone around pinehaven knows what to expect when the spookiest month of the year rolls around. trick-or-treating, costume parties, and pumpkins lining the streets. orange lights decorate shop windows, and some say that you can hear the cackle of a witch in the abandoned coal mine if you're brave enough to venture into the area at 3 in the morning.
bob whitman from the whitman dairy farm, better known by the locals as ol' bob, has an annual event he likes to call ~the haunted woods~ .ᐟ.ᐟ five miles of the woods surrounding pinehaven get turned into an all-out hauntfest; complete with ghostly visions dancing in the corners of your eyes, mysterious noises of chains rattling and ghastly screams, and and maybe even an actor or two who will jump out at just the right time to frighten your socks off .ᐟ.ᐟ very scary stuff indeed.
the trail is well lit up with lights, and we recommend dressing warm - it gets a little chilly after the sun goes down. if you can make it to the end, here's what to expect ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
╰┈➤ a metal pin that says ‘ i survived the haunted woods 2025 ’ - bob makes these special every year, so don't forget to grab one!

time is upon us once again to enjoy another bout of festivities. this june, town hall is proud to present THE SUMMER BASH ! this rare 3-week event spans from june 7th to june 28th, and you won't wanna miss it. from pool fun to wedding glam, there's going to be something for every pinehavener to enjoy. read all about it below ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
╰┈➤ junewing migration; while most animals migrate south for the winter, junewing beetles migrate north for the summer. these adorable little flying friends light up at night time, and you can catch large swarms of them flying through the night sky as they make their annual migration to canada. catching one in your hand is good luck, but don't be tempted to corral them into jars - they don't like being cooped up!
╰┈➤ pinehaven carnival; this large carnival returns every year and makes a home in pinehaven for a few weeks. with all sorts of rides, food vendors, and picture opporunities, your insta stories will be glowing and so will you. just remember: deep fried cheesecake on a stick is fine in moderation, but don't go crazy with it! and we recommend not riding the teacups after the dirty dr. pepper milkshakes, either; it will not be pretty.
╰┈➤ forbes & santos wedding; smack dab in the middle of the month, jessamine forbes and xavier santos will be officially tying the knot and saying i do. we were asked by john forbes not to advertise this as a social event, however miss jessamine insisted that everyone know about it (and she paid our editor double the normal ad placement fee). dress to the nines, ‘cause this is one wedding you sure aren’t going to want to miss. we're hoping for more romance than drama, but i think we all know what to expect with this one.
╰┈➤ pride parade; speaking of love…it's pride month! there will be a pride parade on june 20th to celebrate our local lgbtqia+ town residents. show your face and show your support. charity boxes will be set up around town all month so that you can anonymously (or non-anonymously) donate to lgbtqia+ people in need! it's a net positive all around. there will also be street food & clothing + accessory vendors set up along the parade route.
╰┈➤ strawberry festival; as we all know, june is strawberry season. this festival takes place in june every year and celebrates the humble strawberry. pinehaveners and washington residents from all over come together to eat every strawberry concoction one can thing off, pick up strawberries and strawberry merch, and there's even a contest to see who can eat a family-sized shortcake the fastest!
╰┈➤ shakespeare in the park; each sunday in june, the community theater players will be performing their rendition of a midsummer night's dream. if you close your eyes, you'd swear it was 1595 all over again!
╰┈➤ summer solstice; june 21st marks the longest day and the shortest night of the year! celebrate by gathering on the local shores of the local lake and watching the sun go down. share the nice with a lover or friend with complimentary wine coolers provided by town hall - drink responsibly.

╰┈➤ town-wide egg hunt; join the rest of the locals as they gather in centennial park for the egg hunt on april 5th. hundreds of eggs have been dyed and hidden around the park, but watch out! the local geese might think you're after their young ones, instead. you never know what else you might find during your search, either; $100? a golden egg? a 5-pound chocolate bunny? your guess is as good as ours!
