Hey guys, I don't usually post a lot of these things but this one hit really close to home. That girl up there, her name is Ellie. She's my second and third grade teachers granddaughter. She had a tumor in her brain and they  discovered that it was in fact Pineoblastoma. She's responding really well to treatments and is currently at St. Judes in Tennessee for treatment. Her family has a newborn to care for as well as an older child and they're just.....well it's really quite a bit to handle for all of them. Ellie is only two years old.

They're also starting this thing that they call Princess Strong. Ellies favorite color is pink, and she clearly loves disney princesses.

Pineoblastomas are very rare, but when they occur, they're also very deadly. They're a type of primitive (undifferentiated) tumor of the pineal gland, and are fast-growing, highly invasive, and often untreatable.

A more common form of pineal gland malignancy, pineal germinoma, can cause abnormal growth and precocious puberty, but is often highly responsive to radiotherapy.
