I grew up in a small town in the White Mountains of Arizona. The full-time population always hovering around 2,500 or less. But, it was also a destination for part-time folks wanting to beat the desert heat from Phoenix, Tucson and the like. My dad designed & built homes for these desert dwellers in the new summer. In the winter he was the ski school director at Sunrise Ski Resort and taught a lot of of the folks how to ski as well. Obviously, a lot of these folks became great family friends over the decades of house building & ski teaching. One couple in particular...that my dad built a house for, had a complete set of the National Audubon Society Fields Guides in their Pinetop cabin. As a kid every time we visited them I’d devour these guides...so full of visual stimuli and knowledge, I couldn’t set them down. So, I’m stoked to have the same Guides in my shop that influenced my curiosity to learn and education myself about the natural world. Also, the best thing about these guides is that they are constructed exactly the same as back then...nothing has changed except for the new addition of a species here & there. In the shop & online. #nationalaudobonsociety #fieldguide #pinetopaz #sunriseskiresort @cordpdx #rankedandwellstowed (at CORD PDX) https://www.instagram.com/p/B38fvA0hvOH/?igshid=cdhzzrd6yepy
