Hi lovely! I love looking at your page for advice on how to make the sims 4 more realistic and story based. Currently, I am trying to get myself to play university and wanted to ask you how you'd go about the university experience in the sims 4 if you were to play and post about it? What would be the best way to make it "realistic" within what the sims 4 can offer?

Hey girl! So usually when I’m playing (with University or anything in the game really) I usually try to think of reasons behind why things happen the way they do, it’s what helps me build a “story”. So say if my sim is studying Communications, I would want to know why they chose that major. If my sim’s neighbor was always coming over asking for food, I would want to know why. Are they having a hard time financially? Are they abusing my kindness? If my sim is dating someone and their significant other never calls or invites them out, I would want to know why. Are they just not interested? Could there be someone else? If my sim has more than one love interest, I always watch how they interact with each other autonomously and use that to decide how they should proceed. Little things like this breathe life into the sims themselves and makes them feel more real.

To help keep things interesting, ie: create unexpected events/drama I like to use these mods:

Personality Please - this alters the things sims do autonomously and helps them behave in ways that make more sense. For example, during an unpleasant conversation, two angry sims will continue to perform mean interactions with each other (like really argue) and it makes things more realistic to me. There’s also the possibility of autonomous proposals & autonomous ask to be boyfriend/girlfriend (I’ve had both happen but in different saves) I have all 6 modules.

Slice of Life - gives sims additional personality traits and alters their wants and stuff based on that. One of my favorite things that the mod adds is the possibility for random hookup calls which can take your gameplay in a whole new direction (see Erin & Victor, lol) It does way more than that but I just wanted to point those things out.

Road to Romance - adds a romance skill in which sims become better lovers over time. I haven’t played with this a whole lot but after I put it in my game Victor questioned the identity of Erin’s baby while she was pregnant and I almost died especially considering the fact that she did have another love interest!

Wicked Whims (18+) - for the additional personality traits which helps with building relationships and the attractiveness system which I have become so dependent on, I can’t play without it. Makes finding your sim’s love interest so much fun!

very true!! i love showing all the different kinds of family relationships & dynamics out there, because simblr tends to be very... cookie cutter. and that was too boring for me lmao. i’m really glad you think it works well!! 💖

@pineysims​ ahh i don’t know if i have a great response for this because i never ever thought i would be on simblr this long, nor did i think i would be this heavily into storytelling... i originally just wanted to post pics of my sims peeing their pants and screaming because they can’t step over a toy on the floor jsdkjs so i guess my main advice would be don’t take things so seriously? just go with the flow, experiment, find things that you enjoy doing, and curate your tumblr space so that it makes you feel happy and safe. and when you find something you love, keep doing it. don’t worry about what other people want from you, just do what makes you happy!! 💖 (also i’m honored omg thank you 💗)

JFKSJD camellia lore says that he still lives in windenburg (michael & brian used to live there too but they moved back to brindleton when cara was born) but jack stayed there for work and.... that’s really it lmaoo he visits sometimes, but i truly cannot think of a single scenario where i would need to show jack camellia in a story post, so......

@itsmegxbree​ lmaoo i actually don’t have a problem with townies anymore, i don’t know if i downloaded a mod or something but they just never spawn?? in this case, the sim that was glitching was a background sim that i posed myself, she was just ruining the shot with her half-invisible body 😭

this is so sweet omg good luck with your last year of high school!! senior year was somehow the hardest and easiest year ever sjdksj i hope you’ll find it easier 💖 and to answer your question, i went to college for 2 years with a major in environmental science, but i realized that it all felt kinda hopeless? i know that environmentalists are so important, and i still feel passionate about it, but it was so frustrating having to jump through so many hoops just to get one tiny victory... anyway, i still wanted to do something science related, but i really didn’t want a laboratory job. and then i was like “wait a minute....... ANIMALS” lmao i’ve always loved animals and biology in general, and i would absolutely love to be able to help them live long happy lives :’) when i told my friends i was thinking about becoming a vet tech they were immediately like “um yes that’s perfect for you” so that was my answer jfkjsd but anyway, good luck with becoming a veterinarian!! i hate college too much to suffer through that many years of schooling lmaoo but i believe in you!! 💗💗

Thank you so much dear!! Okay so, I tried my best to go by a random legacy roll site for Gillian, but as usual, I strayed waaaay away from the initial plan, lol. I think the only thing I kept was that she’d have 2 kids, and her partner situation :’)

So I’m afraid there won’t be any more kiddies for Emmett and Gillian! UNLESS they somehow manage to sneak a baby in when I fully move onto gen 2 and move them out of the household. Then I’ll have to figure it all out if that happens ;-; lmao. Also both children came out with Emmett’s hair when they turned toddlers, I didn’t change any of that!

Ive gotten this question once a while ago and I can think of a few tips!

First and foremost, don’t worry about too much! Try to have fun!

Also, I’d look up some challenges ( for example right now I’m doing the Midnight Sun Challenge, this particular one) for you to do with your sims! Theres a whole bunch, and they can keep things interesting if you can’t decide what to do with your blog.

Be social! I’ve met so many amazing and inspiring people on here. Its always good to interact with people, and you can learn even more from them!

Don’t give yourself any pressure to post daily or anything!

Don’t forget to make sims and post about them of course

Try new things, sim styles, aesthetics, editing...its always fun to learn something new yanno

Also something I personally enjoy is others’ sim stories! They’re sooo many good ones out there, and I def. suggest giving them a read!

hey omg tysm ;-;!! It’s crazy I can’t imagine being a part of what made you go back to writing omg!! But I’m so happy for you because while simblr can be wild but it’s also an incredible experience!! Okay, so a few tips! 

Do what you like, do what you want! Please, don’t do things you dislike (or things that stress you out) to please the community, to grow or whatever. Don’t restrain yourself from doing stuff you like because it isn’t popular, because it is “too” popular, etc. It’ll get old really fast and make your love for writing, simblr & inspiration disappear quickly af! Do your own thing, make your blog your own safe and amazing space! It’s your blog! If you want to complain about irl stuff, do it. If you want to celebrate something, do it! Want to post gameplay of another game, do it! Wanna post lyrics of songs you enjoy atm, do it! 

Be liberal with the block/unfollow features. 

Learn new things! Watch editing videos, read writing tips and everything... You’ll improve your content while having fun! The goal is to grow for yourself. The more you grow, the more fun simblr becomes. Who knows? It can come in handy irl one day! 

Take breaks if you need them. Take breaks even if you don’t think you need them lmao. Walk around, do something else, drink lots of water, etc.

Mix storytelling with gameplay! Have a sim save you don’t post on your blog! Have fun with the game!

Classic, common, predictable, overused, basic tropes can still be good tropes! If it’s what you wanna do, do it!

Notes, notes. Read this!

Friends. Make friends! Comment, follow, send love and everything! Simblr is so much more fun with friends. Interact! But stay respectful! 

Enjoy yourself and do things at your own pace! Remember that we all went through the 0 notes phase, we all learned from someone. It’ll get better! Stay to, one day,  go back on your content and say “ew”. I’m much better at x y z now.
