I'm not even a big fan of Quanxi and her girls (I'm a Makiqua soldier until I die, and I think we simply didn't have enough time with the girlfriends for me to care about them as characters) but I do think it is interesting that Quanxi seems to be far more heavily shipped with Pingsti and Long, as opposed to Tsugihagi, be it in drawings or even in simple headcanons. Even Cosmo, who has a fair bit of substance during her scenes and is undoubtedly the MOST iconic among the group for her scenes and dialogue, isn't drawn or depicted as heavily with Quanxi as much as the two girlfriends who look, for lack of a better descriptor, more "human" and more conventionally attractive.
I'm sure it has something to do with palatability, same as Tengen getting heavily shipped with conventionally beautiful Hinatsuru and Suma, over the tomboyish Makio. But I find it fascinating how people always manage to dilute poly relationships in media to: Me, my girlfriend...and the others I sort of tolerate and like. Quanxi cares for her girls, and incidentally, when she surrenders in her final moments, she begs for the lives of the two who would be considered most akin to "devils" by their appearance.
Idk, something something real life allegory and social commentary about how it is easier to see pretty, palatable women as "more convincing" love interests than the non-verbal ones or the ones who look more "disfigured" or appear to have physical disabilities/disfigurements, if we are following on that metaphor. I mean, for God's sake, Quanxi is disabled herself. Stop infantilizing or erasing queer women who don't fit your waifu image.
