what about l and near is different in the manga? i haven't read
There's a very good summary by @13eyond13 about manga!Near vs anime!Near here! In short: he mostly seems less emotional & complex in the anime.
And L is written as both more tragic/sad and funny/quirky in the anime. Here are a few scenes that come to mind that are anime-only:
L giving Mogi a strawberry
L telling Matsuda he can be useful by making him another cup of coffee
L imitating Misa's commercial
L going into Watari's room before his death
and perhaps most importantly: L in the rain hearing bells & confronting Light and the famous foot massage scene afterwards
Which isn't extremely OoC or anything, but it certainly paints a slightly different picture of L. I find manga!L more serious and more of an enigma, which I personally like. He also gets to be more wordy and, imo, more manipulative in the manga.
