Thursday 30 July 2020
Planted in 1973 by an entrance to Cambridge Botanic Garden, UK, this Albizia julibrissin f. rosea (pink silk tree) has grown to attain English champion status. This deciduous tree species can be susceptible to frost damage, but has survived in this sheltered position to develop a broad-crown which is at present is covered with pink flower-heads, with prominent stamens. The flowers look great against the bipinnate leaves.
