In case anyone missed it, this natural wonder broke auction records yesterday. The 59.6 carat Pink Star Diamond sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong for $71.2 million. The previous record for highest pink diamond sale was held by the Graff Pink which sold for $46.2 million in 2010. The previous record for fancy colored diamond sale was held by the Oppenheimer Blue which sold for $58 million in May. The Pink Star diamond was the largest internally flawless, fancy vivid pink diamond ever graded by the Gemological Institute of America, according to Sotheby’s.
