To calm myself down, I imagine that I’m curled up on the back of a giant tarantula…. Nestled in its soft fur, protected and comforted with the smell of the crisp forest air surrounding me. The gentle purr of the tarantula soothes my fears and resonates with my own heartbeat. I feel calm, protected and at peace. I feel tranquil. . Many tarantulas and some other spiders make a noise called "stridulation". In certain species it sounds like a chirp or light purring. Tarantulas also have the cutest paws! The paws aren't really paws, in the way cats and dogs have paws, but are dense pads of hair. These pads around a spider's claws are known as 'claw tufts'. They are common to tarantulas and related spider groups.
