Following the hype regarding Pinrose’s upcoming “Starter Witch Kit”. I have feelings regarding the use of white sage (appropriation plus impact on those communities) as well as the rose quartz (mining practices and impact on marginalized groups/communities in those areas).

One of the forums that I’m on called out that the cover of the deck looks similar to “The Old Memories” Tarot. Want to give the benefit of the doubt that the original artist was consulted and is being compensated for their work.

I’ve lost 10+ followers since posting the update to the PInrose Witch Kit story. I feel like the whole community [or at least the ones who were outraged over this whole thing] are stumbling over themselves to try and still justify their outrage over the kits.  

They’ve responded and now people are mad they’re choosing to not release the kits anymore. Understand, from a business point of view, their choice to not release the kits now is not to spite the witch community. It’s because there’s now too much negative press surrounding it and they’re just trying to cut ties with it completely. No company [with a good business plan lol] wants to be caught up in internet outrage culture. It’s best, for the company, to just end the whole thing rather than try to put a positive spin on it.  

There was even a change.org petition to get witch kits off the shelves

This is what the community seemed to want. Albeit the petition only got 47 supporters but reading the petition description and the comments it’s pretty clear that a lot of people didn’t use any common sense in this whole mess.

This will be the last time I posts about this because it’s over now but I hope that our community has learned from this whole thing and will next time choose to hold their tongue before passing judgment.
