on the heroes of fandom
every single time i think about fandom, i remember that i’m incredibly lucky to be in one that is both incredibly talented, and prolific in its writing. you guys have written so much, so fucking well, that whenever i dip into the pinto AO3 tag, i’m a little bit shocked. so many different themes, so many different writing styles, so many characterisations, and so many worlds to travel through!
that’s the quintessence of good writing, the ability to transport your reader into another world, and pinto writing has that in spades. whether its an endless variation of smut, or darling fluff, or just gorgeous wordplay, you guys put in your precious time to create a never-ending fanon for the fandom. for that, we thank you. thank you for spending your time on writing that have brought squees to so many. thank you for sharing your ideas, your head canons, your words, all for free and for no recognition.
you don’t always get the recognition you deserve, nor’ the praise, but hopefully after today that will change. whether you write drabbles, one-offs, AUs, big-bangs, novel-length fics - you deserve appreciation, because you guys are the heroes of fandom. some of your fics have made me cry. some of your fics have made me laugh. some of your fics have fixed my ideas about relationships, naive ideas that had been placed by conventional fiction. some of your fics have changed my perception of the world (seriously, you guys are that fucking good i can't even).
thank you for bringing such a rich inner world into the fandom. thank you for being here. thank you, writers of the fandom, for doing what you do!
