Another lovely and mysterious Nomada. Nomada placida. Eastern U.S. This one from Highland County. Late season species. Host - Unknown, Probably Andrena, but....other possibilities exist. Collected by Steve Roble in Highland County, Virginia. So many scintillating worlds out there that we walk by thinking about bears when we should be thinking about Nomada. Photo by Erick Hernandez.

Coker Creek, Tennessee--
A lucky snapshot that I had captured of a swallowtail butterfly that was feeding on a pinxter flower. I've always felt that butterflies were strange creatures, especially since this one had decided to follow us down the trail which led to the falls. While we were standing at the base of Conasauga Falls, the butterfly flew around the falls, periodically landing on other flowering trees nearby. Near other blossoming plants, tiny purple butterflies fluttered around in small groups.
