After the sudden death of her boyfriend, Jason Blossom, Piper Dean begins to question what really happened, and puts together the pieces of the puzzle. She clashes with Jason’s twin, Cheryl, and tentatively forms a friendship with the reclusive but intelligent Jughead Jones. The question is, does Piper really want to know the truth behind Jason’s death?
“You mean to do with Jason’s murder?” It was all anyone ever talked about these days. Merikh understood that, but he also wished there was more on people’s minds than something as morbid as death. Piper had become obsessed with solving it, for reasons that puzzled Merikh. Why wouldn’t she just want to let the past die? Jason had done some horrible things to her, so why did she care who’d done horrible things to him?
“No.” Piper shook her head fervently, reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “Me…me and Jughead.”
Merikh smirked. “There’s a ‘you and Jughead’?”
“I don’t think so, at least not yet.” Piper tilted her head back and exhaled deeply and he could tell that she was frustrated. More than that, by the pink tinge in her cheeks, the thought of discussing her and Jughead like a ‘we’ seemed to make her flustered, and few things made Piper Dean flustered. It seemed to Merikh that little miss popular might just have a crush on an edgy loner type.
