Pei Pei is the start of all this. When Mark was getting hunted by Yama the girls temporarily give him a physical body, I never understood how the girls just standing there stopped her, she's death? When have the girls ever menaced death? They're made deals but c'mon? I think giving him a temporary body, a la Mr. Right, would be confusing enough. And if he's physical... "One Last Time" and "If Only Once" Sex is romantic.

And when Piper figures out she's pregnant, she clumsily reaches out to Mark's mom, and I'm gonna say it, I think Mark's mom knew about magic. How many human magic practitioners or weirdos do we see and their actions aren't really potent? But Mark's mom's tailsmans and everything was 100% correct! So while she may not say it, she definitely knows. And I can see, like a year or something after Pei Pei's born something happens and Mrs Chao is like, honey I know. Did you think I would never notice?

And I think, Piper's pregnancy makes Prue really think about what she wants in life, so she marries Andy, move out and she also gets pregnant. LATER(ish). More in my Patrick Post.

Also, I believe being pregnant takes over the Love Triangle time slot, as Piper goes, I'm pregnant I have to think about this and not my love life, but while ignoring a normal man is easier, Leo is there. And he's so kind and attentive and she already had a crush...

I can see a scene so clearly, when Piper's going through her pregnancy worries and she tells Leo, what if we never have kids? and Leo's like, we already do. i know she's not mine but if you'll let me, i'd be more than happy to have Pei Pei be our only daughter.

Pei Pei is very Season 1 Piper, and as phoebehalliwell has said, you know when you're a lonely girl and you feel like you're the loneliest girl to exist? She worries she's not as strong as she should be, she's the oldest she should be the strongest, but she's not like Prue. Mama's girl.
