It was heavenly, actually sleeping with no nightmares. Not only that, her bed was warm and cozy. Comfortable and soft. Sadie moaned softly, nuzzling against her soft fluffy pillow. Even with her eyes closed, she could tell it was morning. The sun was bright, shining over her face, though she didn't open her eyes. She didn't want to, she was way too comfortable. Shifting under her covers, Sadie felt something hard scratch against her leg, irritating her skin. That was what caused this dream to fade.
The comfortable bed, pillows, and covers disappeared. Leaving Sadie feeling cold and uncomfortable. Then, the bright light faded, leaving Sadie feeling fearful as those nightmares came to mind. The darkness all around her, the sinister voice. Shifting again, Sadie felt the hard ground underneath her. Rocks, sticks, and roots sticking up from the ground. Slowly, Sadie lifted herself up from the ground, eyes opening to see where she was. Trees. That's all she could see. She was on flat ground, but all around the ground was hilly. Some places a bit steep.
"Where am I?" Carefully, Sadie stood up, dusting herself off. She still wore her pajamas. A light blue tee, her pants were the same color. They were comfortable pajamas, made of cotton. Raising her hands, Sadie held the necklace in her hand. It was still on her, thankfully. Though, what happened, it wasn't a dream. Raising her gaze, Sadie again looked around. The scenery looked familiar, but she just couldn't think why.
Where has she seen it before? With her feet bare, Sadie began to head up one of the hills, grabbing onto a tree when she needed to balance herself. She kept going up the hill, only stopping when she heard shouts. It.. It wasn't exactly shouting, but growling. Snarling.
Sadie's body froze up, usually when she heard snarling, it was a wild animal- a wolf, or coyote... Suddenly, the ground started to vibrate. Eyes widening, Sadie jumped to the side, pressing up against the tree. Her back flat against the bark. The vibrations got stronger, just as unknown creatures came stomping past her. Eyes shut tightly, Sadie tried to keep from freaking out, keep her from getting caught. Unfortunately, one creature stopped, turned to look straight at Sadie. "Stop!" It cried out, causing Sadie's eyes to fly open and stare fearfully at the creature. "It's the human, we've found her." It snarled, stepping closer.
She didn't have anywhere to go, still she tried. Pushing off from the tree, Sadie went to take off, only to bump into more of the creatures.
"Catch her and let's go! We must take the halflings and human to Saruman!" Sadie screamed when she was caught and thrown over a shoulder. Hearing mumbling, Sadie tried to look up to see two boys. Hands bound behind their back, both had been thrown over a creatures shoulders. The creatures continued to stomp through the forest, destroying anything that got in their way. Just from them running, the large shoulder started digging into Sadie's lower abdomen. She couldn't take much more of it. Unfortunately, the creatures didn't seem like they were going to stop soon.
The creatures continued to head to... Where ever they were headed to, only stopping if needed. Which was rare. Sadie found herself falling unconscious, it was very uncomfortable, but she managed to sleep during their travels. Every time she tried to wiggle in escape, the being that held her tightened his grip, adding onto the pain. Finally, after what? Days, it's been days, that's for sure. The group of ugly creatures stopped.
Dropping the three, two hobbits(Sadie found out), and herself to the ground. She was quickly bounded, and left alone.
While the creatures went about making a fire, Sadie turned to the two hobbits, hearing them shift about. "Merry.." One hobbit managed to crawl to his brother? Cousin? His friend. "Merry!" "I think.. We have made a mistake leaving the Shire, Pippin." See, all of this should have brought to Sadie's mind where she had see it from. But, nothing came up. The two glanced to Sadie, Pippin was the first to speak to her.
"Pippin, and this is Merry." Sadie offered a small smile. "Sadie. Nice to meet you two. Do you both have any idea why we're being carried around like a bag of potatoes?" Merry and Pippin raised a brow, but shook their heads. If they were to speak, they were interrupted by a loud groaning coming from the trees. Merry and Pippin looked to each other in worry, Pippin then glancing to Sadie, who wore a look of fear. What was that? "What's making that noise?" Pippin voiced Sadie's thoughts. Merry lifted himself up a bit, staring up at the large trees. "It's the trees." Merry whispered, loud enough for Pippin and Sadie to hear.
"What?" Pippin was confused, the trees made that sound? Merry looked down to Pippin. "Remember the Old Forest? On the borders of Buckland? Folk used to say that there was something in the water that made the trees grow tall... and come alive." "Alive?!" The two hobbits glanced to the trees, Sadie couldn't help but stare at them as Merry explained. "Trees that could whisper. Talk to each other. Even move." The two looked to each other, Pippin then glanced to Sadie. He felt bad, she looked so afraid. Then again, she looked like she didn't belong. He wanted to ask, why she dressed differently, but now is definitely not the time.
"I'm starving. We ain't 'ad nothin' but maggoty bead for three stinkin' days!" One creature grumbled out. Sadie's eyes moved to. "W-What are these guys? Goblins?" "Oh no." Merry turned his head, eyes narrowed to her. "They are Uruk-Hai. Much worse than goblins." Sadie's eyes widened, her eyes moving to another Uruk-Hai. "Yeah. Why can't we have some meat?" He spat, eyes falling upon the three hostages, those eyes widening. "What about them? They're fresh." God, Sadie shivered in disgust. The orc spat and hissed and just.. Yuck. "They are NOT for eating!" One orc growled, the leader perhaps? Sadie's chest tightened. God, she was so afraid right now. "T-They're not really going to eat us, right?" She whispered to her new friends.
Suddenly, her two friends were ripped off the ground, before Sadie was ripped up as well. All three stood now, watching as another orc stepped forward eyeing them. "What about their legs? They don't need those." Pippin and Merry glanced down to their legs in horror, then back to the orc. "Ooh... They look tasty!" The orc who pulled the two hobbits up and defended them shoved the attacking orc back, the other orcs hissing at him. "Get back, scum!" The three prisoners watched as the orcs started to get restless. "The prisoners go to Saruman, alive, and unspoiled." The orc growled at the others. "Alive?" The attacking orc asked, his head tilting back and forth, eyeing the three. "Why alive?" "They have something, an elvish weapon. The master wants it for the war." Pippin leaned closer to Merry, whispering; "They think we have the ring.." "Sh!" Merry turned to Pippin. "As soon as they find out we don't have it, we're dead!"
An orc came up from behind the two hobbits, hissing nastily. "Just a mouthful!" The orc who defended the hobbits and human hurried over, weapon raised. He swung his weapon, cutting the orc's head off, it falling down to the hobbits, then to the ground. Sadie gasped, even screamed at the violence. Pippin and Merry moved closer to her, eyeing the 'leader' orc now. "Looks like meats back on the menu!" The orcs cheered, pushing the three out of the way, they all jumped on the corpse, ripping through the body. "Ew! Oh my God! That's gross!" Sadie gasped and cried. Tears even pooling in her eyes. Bound hands moved to Sadie's mouth, it was Pippin. "Come on, let's get out of here!" He gestured to Merry, who then gestured to the trees. Wait, didn't Merry just say the trees could move and talk and.. Sadie didn't have a choice. The two hobbits started crawling towards the tree line. She soon followed, it being a little easier for her.
Sadie gasped, calling out Pippin's name as he was suddenly stopped by one of the orc's nasty foot stopping him. Pippin was kicked over, his back flat on the ground. "Go on," The orc snarled. "Call for help- squeal! No one's gonna save you now!" The orc reached down, gripping Pippin's jaw, lifting him up. A spear flew from no where, it seemed, pierced into the back of the orc. Sadie gasped, the orc falling on top of Pippin. She raised her legs, kicking the disgusting orc off of Pippin. That's when men on horses came galloping through the crowd of orcs, slaying all. "Pippin! Sadie!" Merry yells over the chaos, gesturing towards the trees again. That was the only way of escape! If they stayed, they'd be trampled!
The three tried to get back to crawling, but it was just so hard! Sadie had wanted to curl up into a ball, wishing this wasn't happening. If she had done that though.. She would have been a goner! Thankfully, Merry helped her as much as he could, a fallen weapon was used to cut their restraints. However, just as Pippin got free, he rolled onto his back, eyes wide as a horse's hooves were right above him. "Argh!" He screamed, but just as the hooves came down, Pippin rolled away. Quickly helping Pippin up to his feet, Sadie and Merry started tugging him towards the trees. However, the orc that hungered for the hobbitses flesh managed to catch them, grabbing Pippin's belt. Sadie turned to glare at the orc. "Leave us alone!" She went to kick the orc, but Merry stopped her. "The belt!" Pipping looked down and pulled the belt loose from the buckle, letting it fall from his person. The orc growled in frustration, as he watched the three prisoners run away into the forest.
Pippin and Merry fell to the ground, catching their breaths, while Sadie cursed and swore, leaning against a tree. She was in her bare feet, something on the ground had been sharp, and of course she had found it. Her foot bleeding. "A-Are you alright?" Merry asked the girl. She wanted to yell at him, no! She wasn't okay! She was bleeding, damn it! Instead, she sent him a weak glare. "I'm fine, though I don't think we should stay in the forest for long." "Aye." Merry agreed. Pippin looked around, Merry doing the same. "Did we lose them? I think we lost them!" As soon as he said that, a growl sounded from where they came from. There, out of the bushes was that stupid orc. Sword ready for the kill. "I'm gonna rip out your filthy little innards! Come here!" Merry, Pippin, and Sadie quickly scrambled over to a tree, Merry instructing them to climb up it. Once they were up, Sadie, even though she was bare foot, had climbed a bit higher than Merry. Pippin being the highest up. "He's gone..." Merry sighed, seeing and hearing the orc had gone. Unfortunately, he was wrong, he found out. The damn orc gripped onto Merry's leg, ripping him down from the tree. Sadie and Pippin gasped, watching Merry kick and fight the orc. The orc didn't look happy about it, his head turning to glare down at the hobbit. "Merry!" Pippin and Sadie shouted, Sadie just about to get down to help. However, a sound was heard. A groan of sorts. Sadie gasped, the tree started to move! "P-Pippin?!" Said hobbit turned to look at the tree, two yellow eyes blinking awake. "Hooo..." It groaned again. "Argh!" Pippin cried out, the face of the tree turning to get a better look at the small hobbit. Pippin had let go, his body falling backwards now. "Pippin!" Sadie shouted, but was suddenly ripped from the tree's side, her hands getting scrapped. Pippin too was snatched up before he hit the ground.
Merry still fought with the orc, though when he seen the tree moving, his eyes widened, looking up at the tall creature. The orc hadn't noticed yet, and snarled out; "Let's put a maggot-hole in your belly." His eyes moved up to see Merry looking at something, that's when he felt a presence behind him. Looking over his shoulder, the orc's jaw dropped, and tried to make a run for it. The tree's foot came down on top of the orc, crushing him. Merry jumped up, looking up at the tree who had a hold of his friend. "Run Merry!" Pippin called, and run the hobbit did. That was until the tree took two steps forward, and snatched up the hobbit. Pippin and Sadie in one hand, Merry in the other. It wasn't very comfortable...
"Little orcs!" The tree looked over the three. "Burarum..." "It's talking, Merry. The tree is talking!" All three stared, amazed up at the tree. "Tree?! I am no tree!" The tree snapped, he continued to stomp through the forest, slowly. "I am an Ent." Sadie laughed softly, shaking her head. "I have no idea what that is..." She said it lowly, but the tree heard, eyeing the girl. "A treeherder! A shepherd of the forest!" Well, that explained it, Sadie thought. She glanced to Merry, he looked fascinated. "Don't talk to it, Merry. Don't encourage it." Pippin told Merry, Sadie nodded, agreeing. "Treebeard, some call me." "And, whose side are you on?" Pippin couldn't help but ask. "Side? I am on nobody's side because nobody's on my side, little orc." The three stared up at the tree, listening to his explanation. "Nobody cares for the woods anymore." Sadie frowned, her eyes moving from Treebeard to Merry. "We're not orcs. We're hobbits!" Treebeard lifted each hand, looking over the three. "Hobbits? Never heard of a hobbit before. Sounds like Orc mischief to me!" His grip on the three tightened. It being more worse for Pippin and Sadie, since they shared a hand. "They come with fire, they come with axes. Gnawing, biting, breaking, hacking, burning! Destroyers and usurpers, curse them!"
"No, you don't understand. We're hobbits... Halflings! Shirefolk!" Merry tried again. "Y-Yea, and she is human! Human!" Pippin nudged Sadie's shoulder. "Maybe you are and maybe you aren't. The White Wizard will know." Pippin and Merry looked to each other with worry. "White Wizard?" Pippin asked, Merry added; "Saruman." Suddenly, the three were dropped. Before them, the White Wizard stood.
