Pisang Ijo ( green banana ice )
Pisang ijo or green banana ice is a type of Makassarese food in South Sulawesi, especially in the city of Makassar.
This food is made from bananas wrapped in green flour dough. It is cooked by steaming in a dandang. The batter is made from flour, water, and green coloring made from a mixture of water with suji or pandan leaves.
In Makassar, Pisang Ijo will often be found when the month of Ramadan arrives, because the banana Ijo menu is one of the favorite iftar menus of Makassar residents.
Pisang Ijo is indeed one of the unique foods available in the month of Ramdahan. It's so unique that it can be found on protocol roads and small streets.
This favorite food from Makassar is able to make our appetite increase. The bright green color of the banana peel and the red syrup mixed with grated ice make for a perfect mix of colors.
The sweet and slightly tangy flavor of the plantain adds to the enjoyment of this specialty.
