What if?
And what if the very peculiar day had ended differently? Would we still stand here, hands in our pockets as we watch the warmth evaporate in the chilly night? Cheeks rosy not only from the freezing cold but mostly from the sprint we just finished, soles still on fire as if they could melt the laying snow.
Eyes glowing up into the sky and even if there was no hope left to wish for, something inside of us still didn’t want to let our lights go out.
And suddenly you let out the most freeing laugh you’d been holding in for the past few days, weeks, months, what felt like an eternity. Something was telling me that in that exact moment we’d feel more alive than what we’ve been feeling in the past few years and even if that was a fleeting moment, reality already on our steps to catch us, it was all worth it.
