re defining the project
PISO proyecto is a platform for ongoing research. Our investigation intends not just to generate new movement/s through the body, but in action: political, social, aesthetical trying new possible practices in relating and with this new possible meanings. PISO is a base for its practitioners to exist and sustain as cross disciplinary artists/humans in PR and in the world. Our imagination and curiosity as well as personal practices push us not to fit into pre made or existing structures. The basis of our proposal is the neccesity to generate dialogue and more than invite "the other," inhabit the in between. We think creating a container to situate our practice elsewhere [not in a studio, theater, proscenium or final product / performance] recontextualizes what is being seen gving it new possible meaning.
PISO is an exercise to re think, re inhabit and re build structure/s. These structures mobile and flexible enough to give room and at the same time support and allow progressive ideas and experiments [in aspects such as production, critical dialogue, forums, re considering "dance," the body, perception, consumption, forms, etc. ]
Our intent is also to notice and suggest moving past the passive role of spectator. We think and know who observes is also implicated in the equation -construction of what is happening in the now. We want you to interpret and take risk with us, moving past comfort zones.
PISO proyecto is a means, a process by which we can begin to address questions about displacement, the body, perception, among other.
PISO is not site specific. We like being "out of context," "in between." What happens in the platform - movement improvisation-is a metaphor for all tasks we take on. The thread to this project is the practice of giving form/shape to what still has none. Yes we are utopical. Yes we are non conformist. Yes we are queer. The instrumentality of being alive in a body capable of movements and actions - artistic, aesthetical, political, sociological and other- are the "bottom line" and through line of PISO. PISO is NOT a dance project. PISO is not a product, not a presentation, not a performance, not dance. PISO is not entertainment. It is a possibility to recognize ourselves in being seen and seeing / observing and sharing questions of how we shape experience, experiencing, meaning, memory.
PISO as a practice does not necessarily want to be seen as an event, "show" or performance. Our interest is to disarm the representative expectations and opt for discovery. Deconstructing, decoding, dismantling helps us articulate what is meant though doing. We learn through doing. And the more we take on new responsibilities, the more we keep on pushing the form and reinventing ourselves. So we practice and will continue practicing and expanding our responsibilities as practitioners of imagination, creativity art and the art of living. We want to invite all into the realm of possibilities.
