I see a lot of love for skirt omo, but for whatever reason, there is not a lot of mention of the variety of skirt types and how that can affect things!

Long skirts:

For the most part, if someone can act composed for long enough and refrain from grabbing themselves, you might not even be able to tell they have to pee until they wet- maybe it's the sound that gives it away, or more likely from the puddle forming at their feet- if the skirt touches the floor (because of the length or their position) they even have to lift up the fabric to avoid the bottom of it getting wet, which isn't a forethought i think many would have.

Or even someone shamelessly holding themselves through the skirt and leaking/wetting in that position. The wetness encompassing way more than a small, easy to play off, wet spot on the front of a shorter skirt.

Tighter skirts:

Take tighter pencil skirts, leather skirts, or those typical denim skirts (the ones without the flairs), for example. The range of movements for squirming is already very limited, and good luck trying to easily hold yourself! Depending on things like color and type of material, there's a chance of nobody noticing from clothes that they had an accident! Though those chances go wayy down if it happens while sitting.

Skirts with petticoats:

Petticoats are definitely not the most convenient to get out of the way in a pinch, though they are in some ways pretty discreet. Depending on what it's made of, it could be pretty absorbent and serve in not showing leaks on the outer skirt!! Or at least for a little while.

Tights under skirts:

Not technically a type of skirt, obviously, but if someone's wearing (non skin color) tights, most of the things a skirt can provide kinda of go away. And noow, there's one more waistband pressing against their bladder, too! Maybe in their haze of desperation it even slips their mind that they have these on, they are wearing a skirt afterall, if they just spread their legs/move the fabric out of tbe way and go here nobody will really be able to know. So they let go, only to panic when they feel the tights they forgot where there grow wet.

Idk. Just skirts.

Reading an omo fic and a character drinks water: mm foreshadowing at its finest

Overconfident characters who fully believe they'll make it. Thinking they'll excuse themselves to the bathroom eventually, now just isn't the right time, but they can wait. Or maybe there isn't a suitable place to go at the moment, no matter, they'll be fineee. no matter how desperate they are, they somehow manage to not doubt themselves and their abilities to hold it…until without their permission, their body just decides for them that it can no longer take it

Character A who knows character B inside and out- and knows for a fact that B is far too shy to excuse themselves to the bathroom, maybe they are also more stoic and hard to read, well, to all except A. Usually, A helps them out, because they can pick up on their subtle tells, and tries to get to a bathroom without B ever having to ask or embarrass themselves...except things are different now, the two of them are fighting, and not over something small either. Something that has hit so deep that even though A can read the signs that B needs the bathroom, they refuse to do anything this time. They think either B can grow a pair and speak up, or they can just sit with their own discomfort for all A cares...Except neither of those things happen and B wets themselves, and suddenly, at least for the moment, all pretenses drop and A immediately tries to help/comfort them. Because they do care, of course they do.

Honesty, i think pirate(/sailor) omo is super slept on, like just think of the possibilities, dude!

Most Ships in what we would probably think of as typical ‘pirate period’ didn't really have “bathrooms” as we would think of today. instead, ships just had the head of a ship, which functioned like a restroom but looked very different, and notably did not afford anyone any privacy.

 •So just take a moment to consider: Bladder shy pirate/sailor omo. Whether this has been an issue for a while they’ve managed to deal with until a certain point, orr it's someone new to staying on the boat. Of course, it doesn't help to be surrounded by miles and miles of water on every side, or if it's a small ship and privacy is already a laughable concept as is. All in all, I just feel like that would be the perfect storm and speaking of stormss

•Storms: Already an INCREDIBLY dangerous thing at sea, even today. a good amount of work on the crews part in dealing with/ surviving them, and definitely no time to take a break to go piss, even in the unlikely scenario that doing so would even be safe! It wouldn't really matter if they couldn't hold it, though, would it? They are already plenty soaked as is, nobody could tell, right? Least aside from anyone who knows their tells particularly well. 

•I'll also say, of course you could just piss off the side of the boat: definitely not just anywhere though, If you're facing the wrong direction (towards the wind) that would surely lead to something unfortunate. Of course, that'd be such a rookie mistake to make. Who would be so silly! Maybe it's a little easier to screw up in that respect when you're already desperate and not really thinking, yaknow? 

•Depending on the setting and time period, it might not be unlikely to assume they might not have more than one set of clothing. This also makes wetting much more inconvenient and leaves you kinda stuck in a sucky situation even after a while after the fact for one reason or another. 

•Pirates a lot of times slept on hammocks, I think bedwetting in that situation speaks for itself, lol
