1/2 So I've been working with my SDiT extensively at home, and she's had two levels of basic obedience and she's been doing fantastic. I've started taking her out in public for short periods, and I think she's doing pretty well. The only problem is that she often wants to go say 'hi' to people without a second thought, and while she'll only do so if they're close enough I know the behavior is unacceptable. She is also sniffing everything, and as a result isn't paying attention to me
2/2 because of it, and it is extremely frustrating which I'm sure rubs off onto her as well and makes for a not nice session. Ginger also doesn't like laying down on hard surfaces, she'll stay if I put her into a sit, but not into a down, is this something I should be concerned about? The last thing is that she's TERRIFIED of cars, like pins down and won't move, but only when by a road, in parking lots she's perfectly fine. Any and all tips will be greatly appreciated <3
Honestly, it sounds like you two could probably benefit from a trainer! You will need to work on her intense fear reaction of cars- it may be enough for you to consider potentially needing to wash her, so a trainer will be able to evaluate that problem and let you know how to best proceed to keep that from happening. The others sound like basic training errors, but a trainer will be able to help you with those as well.
