@pixcldream // hajime. (from here)
she was sick.
that much she managed to understand, through the fog addling her brain. shivering, once she’d been found wandering around outside, she’d been guided to the hospital by the gentle words of tsumiki, who proceeded to look after her. hinata and kuzuryuu had been quarantined too, since they’d already been exposed to whatever germ was going around that had the three (four of them, now) so bent out of shape.
despite this, she didn’t think she was delusional. it was so real there in her mind, this incredibly distinct sense of loss and guilt that didn’t have a place on this island. it had sunk in the instant she saw him, because she hadn’t been expecting him to be there even though logically speaking she knew he would be.
“no– you don’t understand–” she insisted, hastily wiping tears and sweat and snot off her face with one incredibly shaky hand. “you weren’t there– you weren’t– hinata-kun, i know this was real, i know it!” the memory was just so clear, even though she couldn’t place the when and the where. she remembered desperate phone calls, not understanding– had he just grown sick of her? some sense of danger or threat… but when? why?
was monokuma telling the truth about their lost memories after all? and if thatwas true, then… where had hinata gone, and why was he with them now?
it killed hajime to see chiaki like this. she was trembling violently, her sobs wracking her body. each sound seemed to break her and he was worried that she might throw up from how hard she was crying. akane was crying before too, but somehow it didn't hurt as much as this...
"chiaki..." and his voice was gentle, soothing, kind, "you have the despair disease. you can't trust anything you're thinking or feeling right now. this is our motive, remember? whatever you're feeling... you just have to ignore it for now and focus on getting better."
he retrieved a damp towel, carefully wiping the other's face. "it's okay, chiaki. i know it's scary, but you'll be all better before you know it." moving the towel away, he smiled warmly, meeting chiaki's rose-coloured eyes with his own green ones. "okay?"
