the girl clearly had enough. her hands tightly clenched into fists as she yelled to the fairy out of frustration, while mirumo - the fairy in question - just bickered back while flying besides the young student. neither of them paying attention to the stranger who could only see the pig-tailed girl screaming to thin air.

only fellow muglox owners could see other muglox.

a strange occurrence, to be sure. yuri spent her time in the insane asylum of her own mind, rarely disturbed by the mundane beats of the outside world. it wasn’t satisfying to someone as complex as her. she had tried to engage in it and come back disappointed, returning to the solace of books once more. but the sound of shouting had roused her from her deep concentration (she’d long ago mastered the art of reading as she walked) and alerted her to the girl on the sidewalk, yelling at nothing.

very few people seemed to surpass the bookish young woman in strangeness, and yet. she found herself alarmed by and drawn to this stranger. of course, she couldn’t read when it was so noisy, so she would approach this perfect stranger if only for the sake of her concentration.

“e-excuse me...” and her classic stammer broke through, nerves overtaking the student as she spoke, “but w-what, exactly... are you yelling at?”

    it’s always something she looks forward to, when he’s in his office, when he’s doing something, it’s always a chance to learn something new. Whether that said thing was good or bad. She can’t sit still. As curious as she was ever, her gaze is directed down to the stuffed animal that she had already basically torn apart. Maybe he was talking about that? And she’s confused.

“ but i already took him apart? I don’t think there’s any more you can do ! “

ah... sometimes stein forgets that she takes after spirit just as much as she takes after him. quietly, he drops the joke entirely, casting serious eyes towards the stuffed toy. such a charming practice dummy. he feels no joy when he looks at it, however. there’s nothing to learn from this. this is merely a mentoring opportunity.

worldwide influence? hopefully she wouldn’t have to explain the true nature of her travels. If nothing else, she didn’t want to stress this poor kid out anymore. They clearly had a lot of ANXIETY they had to work through. “Oh, I’ve been on the road a long time,” she said. “I haven’t really stopped to learn about schools, or things that don’t pertain to me. Sorry.” Hopefully that would be enough explanation.

The more Crona SPOKE, the more Aqua could see they were getting acting weirder and weirder. Something was WRONG. And what they were saying was also getting strange. It started as an explanation she could understand - a school created by a lord of death to HUNT souls. Sure. But it kept getting worse. Santa Claus? Babies? Their - their blood is black?

“Why is…your blood black?” she had to ask. “Hey, it’s okay. If you don’t want to talk to me, I can just leave. It’s alright. I don’t want to upset you.”

crona let out a soft sound, something that sounded a bit like a giggle and a bit like a gag. they couldn’t deal with this, couldn’t deal with this. anxiety triggered madness like clockwork, a state where they would be afraid of nothing. a state where they could eat souls to the chime of church bells. “my blood is black. it’s always been black. what colour is your blood? i’d cut you open if you were a naughty soul, but since you’re not, i could get expelled. and if i got expelled, they’d all come and hunt me down again.”

thin frame shook with mocking sobs, hiccups of laughter, frightful paradox. somewhere in them, they knew the correct answer was to calm down, but they didn’t know how to do that. “pretty girls shouldn’t walk around alone at night. my blood is black.”
