Night Riding with Pixel8or

I love Richard Winter’s gifs.  They perfectly capture that tired and hallucinatory feeling of riding home late from the airport after a long trip.  The cinemagraph technique he employs is usually associated with hackneyed gifs of sunsets but the way he uses it is wonderful.  He overlaps the frames too much so you can see the technique, but instead of degrading the gif it improves it and adds to the overall hypnotic, dreamy feeling.

Riding with Pixel8or

The artist responsible for this work is trained in illustration, graphic design and multimedia production.  In their own words   “My work as Pixel8or comes from enjoying being a passenger, it's about preserving visual moments and presenting them as endless meditations."  Their work, done in the genre of looping motion called cinemagraphs, is hypnotic and beautiful.
