Hey there. Sorry to bother you. I was wondering if you might be able to help me. I looked through your tutorial tag but I didn't see a tutorial on this. I'm trying to separate an outfit as in I just want the top. For some -strange- reason the colors from the top end up on the pants/skirts/whatever. I don't know how to fix this. It makes me a sad zombie. Could you possibly help?
Hello!I‘ll do my best to help :) Hope you don’t mind me publishing this for other people’s benefit.
If you want to separarate an outfit, you first export the textures and meshes out of that project, then start a new project in TSRW (assuming it is a ts3 project) with the type of clothing that you want (in your case, a top). Do not simply change the category in TSRW, as that might cause problems because the other settings and textures are still optimized for a full body outfit. Be on the safe side and clone a new top to put your edited mesh and textures in :)Edit the mesh first: Cut off the legs. It is often useful to mesh a “lid” on the bottom of the top so that you can’t see through the mesh when viewing it from below. You can see what I mean when you import any non-skintight top from EA.Fullbody outfits often have long body elements that cover the legs (such as a long cardigan). In such a case, you might need to edit the UVmap, especially the part of the UV's where the cardigan covers the legs to make it shorter so that it won’t overlap so much on the leg UV’s. If the actual mesh covers the legs, it is okay to have overlapping UV’s in that area. For example, the area of the legs that is physically covered by the long cardigan mesh can also be covered by the cardigan UV’s on the UVmap, but they should not overlap any further, or the cardigan texture will be visible on the legs. Hope that makes sense :)
When editing the texture, make sure to edit the alpha of the multiplier texture to exclude the areas that do not belong to the top. You can use an image of your new UVmap as a reference and/or take a reference image to see which areas of the alpha texture you need to paint black. You can download some of my reference images here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/j98ub88dc064l/CC_Guides_and_TemplatesIf you are done adjusting your mesh and textures, import them into your new project like you would with a new piece of CC. This is a very basic guide, so if you are stuck somewhere or have specific questions, feel free to contact me via messaging :)
