Im in literally tears right now. A few weeks back I found a copy of 358/2 days in the back of my car under junk. My ex made me sell all my consoles and games. I just got my hands on a DS and its my childhood copy that I purchased on release day in 2009. Legit sobbing rn because I didn't think I still had it.
my current motivation for Doing Things:
1. GLaDOS would hate me
2. Lucy Darling would be proud
my goals for july (because if I don't have some percieved audience cheering me on I'll forget about these and never actually go through with completing this list):
♤ finally create an intro post
♤ attack 5 people on art fight (I'm coming for you @nerdy-nessie)
♤ eat more fruit
♤ finish my crochet blanket
♤ read one book
♤ complete vsmp
Top 5 modern au’s for Nicky and Joe or if you’ve already done that one top 5 tropes
I'm getting so many questions today, damn. Is it my birthday? Lol.
I'm not really a modern AU reader. I'll indulge occasionally but fundamentally I love them as canon immortals who have been through nearly a thousand years of human history together. I love researching the history and seeing what other people explore in their fics. I don't think I even have enough favourites to make a top 5. I can give you a top one, and that's Academia AU. Looooove an Academia AU. (Also does modern AU just mean normal human AU, or specifically set in the modern day?)
As for tropes... hm. I don't usually look for tropes, I look for plots that intrigue me. I have a terrible habit of forgetting to read tags and having to backbutton quickly, lol. My own fault! Plus I never remember the names of tropes (despite spending a hefty chunk of the early 2010s on TV Tropes, lol). I couldn't tell you anything specific, tbh. I just love when they're in love! So like, I can't say "ooh I love 'there was only one bed'" or something like that. I find measuring a fic in tropes just as tedious as measuring a book in tropes. Feels "migratory slash fandom"-y, like everything is interchangeable. Not a fan of that, the trope should arise naturally from the plot, not the plot serve the trope.
I think one of the things they dont tell you with adulthood is that a lot of things that made childhood feel really like... special?? Those things are still there.
Like somewhere along the line someone stopped making those things happen for you, so you kinda gotta make em happen yourself but... we can still do those things!
