My friend is new to Pokemon and doesn't quite understand abilities yet. Four words: fairy-type Hyper Beam.
Officially 22 💗
okay so i have a pixilate sylveon with fairium z
it knows moonblast and hyper beam
activating fairium z turns moonblast into twinkle tackle, but not hyper beam because despite pixilate its technically a normal move
i was up against a lopunny in the battle tree. i used hyper beam, but it missed or something, i dont remember. i said ah fuck it, and chose to use the z stone with moonblast. however lopunny used encore, which would make me use hyper beam again. but because i had clicked the z stone... the move i ended up using was twinkle tackle??? it one shot the lopunny but tbh i think either move would have... so i dont know which move was z moved??? maybe a z move is used through an encore? like if i was under an encore to use quick attack but selected hydro vortex, would i use hydro vortex anyway?
what i think happened was like... i was gonna use the z power that turn no matter what. if i had used a fire z move but encore made me use quick attack, i would have wasted the z power, losing it for the rest of the match, and just used quick attack
and so i used the fairium z but the attack would come out as the encored hyper beam, which is a normal move and i’d have wasted my z move
and since i can’t directly z-power-up hyper beam... it must count as a normal move at some point... and pixilate must be calculated in sometime between selecting the move and it being used. so i think what happened was i selected to use the z move, i got encored to use hyper beam, i did the z-dance and “wasted” the z stone, and the attack that came out was, of course, remade into a fairy type move... and so it actually used twinkle tackle.
now i know hyper beam is a bad move but like i just wanted to test in battle if fairium z + hyper beam was possible. i found out that normally it is not... but apparently i think i used a z-hyper beam... with pixilate... did i just z-power-up a 180 base power move? into what, like a 200 or 250 or whatever i have no fucking clue how z moves are calculated... plus STAB??? like??? did i just fucking maul this poor lopunny that used encore? did i just hit this fucking rabbit with a fucking planet? is that what happened?

What method did you use to catch your shiny cutiefly?
I used a method called call chaining. In essence, it’s the same concept as the Pokéradar and the Dexnav.
pixilate replied to your post:Do you still have a redbubble?
Okay! That’s cool, I love your original artwork as well!
Oh! Well thank you! :O
Do you still have a redbubble?
I do! It’s right here.
It’s original artwork only though. I removed all of my Pokemon artwork since there was a massive purge a few months back and I’d rather not have my account deleted for uploading it again.
On Normalize and “ate” Abilities.
All four abilities are Skin abilities in Japanese.
Aerilate is Sky Skin, written Sukai Sukin/ スカイスキン
Pixilate is Fairy Skin, written Feari Sukin/フェアリースキン
Normalize is Normal Skin, written Nomaru Sukin/ノーマルスキン
Refrigrate is Freeze Skin, written Furizu Sukin/フリーズスキン.
Wonder Skin is also called Miracle Skin, written Mirakuru Sukin/ ミラクルスキン, though it is obviously unrelated to the four.
