i’m a nico di angelo introject, and when i got to camp initially, i remember there being *something* of a hades cabin. it was incredibly… shambly, though. clearly hadn’t been taken care of in years. broken. wood missing, holes in the walls, full of puddles and mold. but, i remember some people that i can only really picture helping me restore it, or at least make it relatively livable. it wasn’t the best at first, but it was something. if i could thank them a million times over i would. it was years after i first arrived (i think i was maybe 17?), but it still got done, and it meant a lot.
side note- percy jackson also helped but i don’t want to give him credit (fondly)
I hope it's not an insensitive question, but how are you anti-psych, but like therapy?
I can explain, but CW here for discussion of psych wards and abuse.
Its a little of an emotional topic, but I can def explain. When I say anti-psych, I mean anti-psychiatry. Therapy is (sometimes under certain circumstances and with the right person) helpful, but psych wards tend to be inherently traumatizing and abusive, especially ones our *Host has been to.
Our Host read the Percy Jackson franchise while he was in a ward for the forst time out of three, it was a very traumatizing environment so me and a few others split. He talked abt the specific abuse (partially illegal stuff they did) on our main blog.
Because of the experience most of us are anti-psych and I think people should know that even tho sometimes those wards safe lives: it is horrible how they operate. For me personally it goes a step further and I struggle taking meds and trusting adults, but I still manage and understand it's important.
We do have a nice and actual helpful therapist we are willingly interacting with. That is a whole different story then what is going on in psych hospitals. Anti psych isn't anti therapy. You probably cant say all wards are abusive, bc Im sure many people had good experience. But as long as people frequently get CPTSD from wards (including us) it needs to be discussed.
I like therapy because I want to be seen and I want us to function, despite my caution. In the ward I formed as an *protector, since we are out I have been functioning as just me. Maybe I'm a *caretaker by now, but im trying just to be me, yk?
All in all I'm not sure if I like therapy or just want to challenge the therapist. But I'm pro-healing, so I gotta do what I gotta do for our well-being.
Anyway, asks are open.
*Host: an alter that fronts frequently for everyday stuff
*protector: an alter that physically or emotionally protects from abuse and pain
*caretaker: an alter that takes care of the wellbeing of other alters
I think the lack of medical research and the amount of false information about introjects on the internet is damaging as fuck.
This is confusing enough as it is. Imagine youre here and confused and traumatized and alone and on top of it everybody tells you what to be and how to feel. You try to deal with it and do research on osdd1 introjects only to internalize it and learn it was all wrong. I just want to know what I am and why im here and what to do.
I feel so damn let down. I cant find any credibal research on my literal existence. I already struggle with just being and then this. I hate how we are being treated.
I'll try to share actual information on my blog and answer questions/asks as truthfull as I can. Especially now where we are seeing a trauma therapists and psychiatrist, I will be able to give actual insight soon, hopefully. Mostly for my sake tbh.
